Nicolaus Copernicus was born in Toruń

on February 19, 1473.

He was a Polish astronomer, the author of „De revolutionibus orbium

coelestium ”detailing and scientifically useful form heliocentric

vision of the universe. Although the concept of heliocentrism

appeared in ancient Greece (the creator was Aristarchus of Samos), the work of Copernicus made the

breakthrough and led to one of the most important scientific revolutions

since ancient times, called the Copernican revolution.

He was a brilliant polymath of the Renaissance, he dealt with astronomy, mathematics, law, economics, military strategy, astrology, was also a doctor

and a translator.

Nicolaus Copernicus died on May 22, 1543

in Frombork.
