G E T Y O U R F R E E O B S O L E S C E N C E R E P O R TOur free obsolescence report service puts you in control. Now you can alleviate the stress and reduce the risk that comes with running obsolete automation equipment with our free audits.

It’s not always possible or convenient to upgrade your machinery when an OEM announces that they will no longer be supporting a particular range or series. An obsolescence report enables you to get in control of the situation and ensure you have appropriate strategies in place.

Our site visit enables you to get a better understanding of your plant, know which parts are best kept as spares or are advisable to upgrade, highlight potential problems before they happen and ensure your production is kept running with no unplanned downtime.

Take advantage of our FREE obsolescence reports and minimise your risk!

VSDs have an expected useful life of 10-12 years before parts such as electrolytic capacitors and electromechanical parts such as fans and relays start to degrade. These drives are well beyond their life expectancy and you have reported that you have already started to experience problems therefore replacing these should be a priority to ensure maximum uptime in the future. Upgrades of this nature are always better planned in advance rather than trying to carry them out during a breakdown.

The ACS Drive and the Allen Bradley are both obsolete and no longer supported by the OEM. There are units available in the surplus marketplace, however due to the small price difference and ease of upgrade it would make more sense to replace these with the Danfoss FC302 range, which would not only increase reliability but will help to reduce waste from the machine by providing more accurate control of the speed of the existing motors.

Although these Siemens parts are obsolete they are readily available on the surplus market. As the machine's operation is quite critical it would be advisable to carry a spare parts provision to ensure a swift repair in the case of a breakdown, but due to the availability this could be put in place quite inexpensively. As you are not currently experiencing any problems and spares are readily available we would not consider the expense of a full upgrade to be necessary, however measures should be put in place to monitor the frequency of breakdowns to ensure an upgrade requirement is identified if reliability starts to become an issue.
