Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow:-

I’ve always been fascinated by Mexico, even as a child. So I was excited about coming here from Canada as a foreign correspondent, and since I arrived I haven’t been disappointed in anything. It’s such a wonderful country full of colours,

sounds and smells that are so different from those back home. Before I came here, I’d read that Mexico had a much slower pace of life than Canada – but I soon

realised they weren’t talking about Mexico City. Waking up early enough to avoid the 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. rush hour wasn’t easy at first, but now I’m used to getting up at 5 a.m. every day.

And as for driving here, I’m slowly getting used to it – but when I first arrived I was absolutely terrified of being in a car. This is a city of 20 million people and it feels like they’re all on the road at the same time. But don’t get me wrong, I’m

really impressed with the way Mexicans drive, they’re amazing. And of course there are rules of the road – it just takes a while for a foreigner to get used to

them. For example, I’ve learned to ignore traffic lights. For months I annoyed every traffic cop in Mexico City by stopping at red lights while they were desperately trying to keep the traffic moving. Also, I wasn’t used to people driving

so close to me. In fact you can’t get a Mexican tortilla between one car and another!

A. What work does the writer do?

B. Which words does the writer use to describe the sense of sight, and smell? C. What was the opinion of the writer before he arrived in Mexico?

D. According to the writer which is the busy hour of Mexico City?

E. What is the population of Mexico city?

F. What made the city cops angry? G. What was the reaction of the writer towards the way Mexicans drove?

Q6.Use the following words from the passage to make sentences of your own:

1. fascinated 2. Excited 3. Disappointed 4. Wonderful 5. Avoid 6. Terrified 7. Ignore 8. Annoyed

Q7. Write your experience of G D Goenka Global School Summer Camp. Your writing should be in Past Tense in about three paragraphs.

Q8. Learn five new words every day from the books or news paper you read

or the news channels you see. Q9. Write diary on a daily basis about the work you have done during the

Summer Holidays.

WRITE ONE PAGE EVERY DAY TO PRACTICE AND IMPROVE YOUR HAND WRITING.
