On a much brighter note – we now have our official leer from Ofsted confirming that we connue to be a Good school following the Secon 8 Inspecon on 1st February. You will see that, in line with all Secon 8 Inspecons, the report is in the form of a leer addressed to the Headteacher, which although dated 1st March, was only available to share with you very recently. Students have been given a copy of the leer and it is also on our website. Please encourage friends and family to read it! I have talked through the key points with students in Assemblies, and the leadership team, governors and staff are very proud of the posive light in which the inspectors view our school. The leer begins with ‘This school connues to be good’ and immediately reinforces our progress since the last inspecon in December 2014: ‘The school has connued to improve since then.’ I am delighted that parents spoke about the school connuing to ‘grow from strength to strength’ as a result of our ‘forward-looking, innovave and child-centred approach,’ and that students talked about behaviour and the school’s reputaon having improved, about feeling safe, and how one of the best things about the school is ‘the teachers and the help they give you.’ Importantly, the report recognises that the leadership team and governors ‘have a good understanding of the school’s strengths and what needs to be improved further.’ The inspectors comment on how students make good progress and on how aainment has ‘risen considerably’ – recognising our righul pride in being the ‘most improved school in Lancashire for pupils achieving grades four and above in English and mathemacs combined’ in 2017. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our very successful inspecon which reflects our commitment to and success in ‘Climbing Higher.’ Best wishes Mrs G Middlemas

Dear parents and carers

Thank goodness the snow has gone and the Beast from the East has returned to its lair! Thank you for your support and co-operation during the extreme weather and especially with regards to the unavoidable school closure on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd March.

On a much brighter note – we now have our official letter from Ofsted confirming that we continue to be a Good school following the Section 8 Inspection on 1st February. You will see that, in line with all Section 8 Inspections, the report is in the form of a letter addressed to the Headteacher, which although dated 1st March, was only available to share with you very recently.

Students have been given a copy of the letter and it is also on our website. Please encourage friends and family to read it! I have talked through the key points with students in Assemblies, and the leadership team, governors and staff are very proud of the positive light in which the inspectors view our school.

The letter begins with ‘This school continues to be good’ and immediately reinforces our progress since the last inspection in December 2014: ‘The school has continued to improve since then.’ I am delighted that parents spoke about the school continuing to ‘grow from strength to strength’ as a result of our ‘forward-looking, innovative and child-centred approach,’ and that students talked about behaviour and the school’s reputation having improved, about feeling safe, and how one of the best things about the school is ‘the teachers and the help they give you.’

Importantly, the report recognises that the leadership team and governors ‘have a good understanding of the school’s strengths and what needs to be improved further.’ The inspectors comment on how students make good progress and on how attainment has ‘risen considerably’ – recognising our rightful pride in being the ‘most improved school in Lancashire for pupils achieving grades four and above in English and mathematics combined’ in 2017.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our very successful inspection which reflects our commitment to and success in ‘Climbing Higher.’

Best wishes

Mrs G Middlemas
