At the Pesach seder we spend a lot of time talking about the story of leaving Egypt, and the Jewish people being freed from slavery. It is interesting that the Hebrew word seder means to arrange, or to organize. What we are doing at the seder is organizing our thoughts and understanding our history. After we talk about all the ideas related to our freedom and the values of the Torah, we reach the conclusion of the seder, which is Nirza.

Which means: “Completed is the Seder of Pesach according to its law, according to all its judgement and statute”. Rabbi Joseph Elias explains that this means to say, just as we have been fortunate enough to be able to talk about the Torah and its values, so too, may we be lucky enough to put those values into practice.

The seder is our opportunity to make sense of the Torah and think about what is important to us, and after completing the seder we have to put the Torah values into our daily practices, and merit “laasoto”, to do actual actions, and not just “lsader”, to organize our ideas without living our values.

Shabbat Shalom and Happy Pesach!!
