Reception
Last week Reception enjoyed welcoming the new
children, who will be starting in Reception in Sep-
tember. Reception also really enjoyed their Eid
party and would like to say a big thank you to par-
ents for all the food and help they provided.
Class 1
Year 1 enjoyed their Eid party. They enjoyed danc-
ing and enjoyed trying out all of the different foods.
In numeracy, Year 1 have been learning about how
to use money and working out money problems.
Class 2
Class 2 enjoyed their Eid party and would like to
thank parents for all the different food that was
brought in.
Mrs Hague, Mrs Khan, Mrs McGuire and Mr Shaw
wish year 2 all the best when they move up to
Year 3.
Class 3
Class 3 have enjoyed making papier mache volca-
noes, as part of their South America topic. They
used plastic bottles as the bases and erupted them
yesterday afternoon.
Class 3 have been learning the Haka, a traditional

got a busy couple of weeks as we reach the end of the
Summer term. This week there is our whole school trip
to the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate on Wednesday
as well as Sports Day on Thursday.
Next week we will all be moving to our new classes and
getting ready for September.

Class 4
Class 4 really enjoyed their singing performance in
the hall. The songs have been recorded and can be
found in Class 4 news on the school website.
In maths, Class 4 have enjoyed learning about line
graphs, bar charts and data analysis.
Class 6
Class 6 have been working hard in literacy writing
reports. They have also been reading the poem ‘The
Jabberwocky’ by Lewis Carroll.
In history, Class 6 have been learning about the Tu-
dors and wrote interviews with one of Henry VIII’s
six wives.
Class 7
Class 7 have created charcoal portraits of Shake-
speare as part of their Tudors topic. Also related
to Shakespeare, the class have been reading
Twelfth Night and comparing it to a film version of
the story. Thank you to our parents for bringing in
food for the Eid party!
Facts of the week
The most prolific actor is Mel Blanc, who appeared
in 709 feature films and over 100 TV movies.
It used to take 66 days to travel to America using
sailing ships; today it takes only 8 hours to fly to
America on a jet.
For the Great Yorkshire Show trip can parents make sure
that children wear school uniform and appropriate shoes
(not trainers, high heels or sandals.) The weather fore-
cast for the show is good but children should still bring a
raincoat, sun hat, sun cream and a small rucksack.
The Great Yorkshire Show is held every year in Harro-
gate, North Yorkshire and is one of the largest agricultur-
al shows in the UK.
