We are excited to be training Jo Jolly as our High-Ability Practice Leader who will coordinate the school’s programs and supports for high-ability students. Along with providing an inclusive education environment for all students via our K.P.S. approach to synthetic phonics, we have also been at the forefront of schools in our region by providing enrichment programs such as Extension Maths (with Kirrily Glouchev) and the Extension Writing groups started last year. We are all looking forward to this new initiative to help further our high-ability students through a variety of programs and activities. Please see a short snippet from a recent Department release regarding this exciting new initiative. “The Student Excellence Program provides $60.2 million to support government schools to provide a great learning environment for high-ability students through: structured learning extension programs for high-ability students upskilling classroom teachers to better support their high-ability students more resources for government schools to build their programs for high-ability students. Together these three strategies will lift the learning, engagement and wellbeing of high-ability students and help them thrive now and into the future. The Department will be managing the selection process for the program centrally, and there will be more information about this early next year.” (from https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/programs/ Pages/student-excellence-program.aspx last accessed 12/03/2020) Music Bus Update After feedback from our community, starting from Term 2 the Music Bus lesson times will change at Kerrimuir to be offered on Wednesday morning before school and Friday afternoon from 1.45pm until 3.30pm and then continue after school on Friday afternoons. We feel that this will alleviate disruptions for some students who wish to continue with their individual music studies.

A reminder for those who have registered for the hockey program,

First Aid Volunteers

We require more volunteers to assist with our weekly first aid job on Friday

replacing the bed with fresh linen and washing the dirty linen over

the weekend.

Please let the office staff know if you’re able to help. We would like to create a

roster with a number of volunteers this year so the task is shared.
