"Congratulations Joe" A lot has happened since our last meeting. 18 club members went up to Tannum Sands for a weeks fishing, including fishing in the Boyne Tannum Hookup fishing comp. The weather didn't help us much, with only a few of us getting offshore early in the week to the reef. The same old people kept winning the prizes at the comp "again"( the Beinke's) until the last draw of the night for the $70,000 boat up for grabs. We were already to fold up our seats and head off when Joe Hardman's name was called out, the whole club jumped up and cheered very loudly, as you could imagine. I'm sure Joe yelled the loudest and he set off down to collect his reward. It was a great time, not only for Joe, but the whole club as well.

Don't forget this weekend is our Inskip trip, and the weather is looking pretty good, except for the huge swell of the coast. Cheers Vince. Cheers Vince. NOTICEs FOR June NEWSLETTER. our NEW club polo shirts have arrived and will be available to be picked up/paid for at the next members meeting on Thursday 14 June. I came to this conclusion from many hours of trolling around without a hit. The AGM is on at the July Club meeting at the Yacht Club, if there are members interested at having a go on the committee, I’m sure some of the present committee members wouldn't mind having a turn in the audience. We are still looking for members to help out with the raffles on Friday nights at the Yacht Club. Cheers Vince. .

We have just left the Ord River free camp where we were for 12 days. The camp site was at Mambi Island boatramp and had it all, couch grass, shade, fresh water and

barra. It is 140km from the mouth and tidal and half way between Kununurra and Wyndham. The attached photo of the site shows the mountain in the background that was in the movie ‘Australia”. The homestead was just across the river from us but was dismantled after the movie. The fishing was slow due to the water only being 22 degrees, but after a few smaller barra I caught a 116cm and a110cm on successive day using a Leads lure and 20lb

braid (300 point if on mono) We travelled up to 20km downstream to where the water became brackish and dirty due to the influence of the King river. And there was a 6 metre croc every half a

kilometre and the always seemed to be laying near the best snags.

We have proven that the best fishing is always where the most big crocs are. The fishing got better after the full moon or maybe it was because I changed to using my latest design which resulted in many a session. I have lost three already and always to big barra taking them into the snags.

I had the fishing inspectors wait for us one day when we came back as they are trying to develop the river as a trophy barra area and limit it to one barra per person in possession. We are now heading for El Questro and the Mitchell Plateau and a bit of landbased fishing Regards from the Kimberley’s Paul and Jenni
