High School Visit Last week we had a visit from some staff and students from Woolgoolga High. It was lovely to see our 2016 School captains Ella’blu Goodman and Luke Taylor return to talk to the students about high school routines and subjects. The high school students also entertained Year 6 with singing and a dance routine. Students from the SMILE programme were also in attendance.

Growth Mindset - Accepting Challenges Achieving Goals
Students in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to participate in the TOONSCHOOL workshops on Wednesday November 22. They will commence after Captains’ Speeches have finished. Conducted by popular, award winning presenter, cartoonist, author and illustrator Jeff Taylor, these unique and innovative workshops have proven to be highly successful in providing students with a deeper understanding of the importance of listening and thinking while enhancing individual skills and confidence. There is no cost for these workshops. Kindergarten Orientation Our final Kindergarten orientation will be held tomorrow between 9 am and 11.45 am. We hope to see as many of our new Kindies as possible. Electronic Newsletters Thank you to the families who have returned the electronic newsletter survey. 3/4 News…
Over the last week we have been studying the celebration Diwali - festival of light. We played a Diwali information hunt, made divas and drew rangoli art patterns on the concrete. Don’t forget to complete both the spelling and homework grid activity to be eligible for the term homework party. This week is Miss Cormick’s last week with 3/4B. Thankyou and all the best in your future studies to become a teacher. Mrs Bartlett and Mrs Timmins
Clean Up Crew News Our Nude Food Tuesday results from Week 4 were varied and we are appealing to both students and
parents/caregivers to help improve these results. While some classes had more students with nude food
(1/2 M; 2H and 3/4 T) other classes either remained the same or had less nude food lunchboxes than in
Week 3. Our Stage 3 numbers were particularly low with only 8 out of 60+ students participating.
The winning class was 1/2M with 14 out of 22 students with a “Nude Food” lunchbox. Well done 1/2M!
Our prize winners were: Stage 1- Tom Taylor (1/2M)
Stage 2- Macey Dodds (3/4B)
Stage 3- Nelly Dodds (5/6T)
Congratulations! These students have won a reusable lunch bag.
A big thank you to our newest ‘Clean Up Crew’ recruits: Ella Williams, Jaida King
and Jade Barnaby who have been consistent in their efforts to help the group.
Keep up the good work!
Ocean Safety Awareness Award Program Years 5 and 6 will be participating in this program run by the Coffs Harbour City Council lifeguards.
This will be conducted at Woolgoolga Beach on Wednesday November 15 and travel will be by bus.
Notes have been given to all students and should be returned by Friday November 10. Please return the yellow note with your permission envelope and payment

MUSIC DAY Last Thursday K-6 had a very musical day. We started the day with a live stream to the Sydney Opera House where the Sydney Symphony Orchestra performed the book ‘The Bush Concert’. We got to learn about all the instruments and watch them perform the story live. We then filed into the library and sang along to the song ‘Shine Together’ with 500 000 other students, at the same time, across the nation. Mrs Timmins
