From the President:Hello!

Recently we have experienced some changes on the Bonnie Brae Board. Our President, Dave Ulrich, decided to resign his position on the board due to his schedule at work becoming too demanding. I wanted to start this letter off by thanking David for his work for our neighborhood. We wish him well. Our Secretary, Susan Shelley, had to also resign, and I would like to thank her for all her hard work for our neighborhood. She was a very good Secretary and will be greatly missed. In light of the changes we added a new member, Melissa Haverkamp, to fill the Secretary position. We look forward to working with Melissa as we know she will bring a lot to the Board.

Since this is my first letter to our neighborhood, I wanted to take a brief moment to introduce myself. My name is Tyler Cooper. I joined the Board because I have always felt the need to be involved in my community. My wife, Charley, and I have lived on Morningside for almost 2 years, we absolutely love our neighbors and this great neighborhood. I was born and raised in Wichita and have always loved our city. After my wife and I purchased our home and moved in, we were told by my family that my Grandfather, Bill Cooper, actually helped build a lot of the homes in our neighborhood. That really meant a lot to me, to know that his hard work is still beautiful and helped make a great place to live.

Just like my Grandfather’s tradition of building great homes, Bonnie Brae is full of great traditions. The Board looks forward to continuing these traditions, as well as adding a few new ones along the way. For instance, the great day of fun we had at the first annual Bonnie Brae Bash. We are always looking for new ideas and suggestions, so please feel free to share them. For those interested, we are having elections for positions coming open on the board at our annual meeting in February.

I know that the future holds good things for the Board and our neighborhood. I hope to see you at a future board meeting and look forward to seeing you all at the annual meeting coming up on February 24th, 2011, 7 p.m. at Hillside Christian Church.

From my family to yours, have a Very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,Tyler CooperPresident

DON’T FORGETWith fall behind us, it’s important to remember to clean up all the leaves from your trees.

Remember these things when doing so:

• It’s against City ordinance to dump your leaves in the street gutter along the curb.

• Your leaves today could be your neighbors tomorrow. With the wind this time of year, let’s all help to keep our neighborhood clean.

SAFETY ALERTAt the last District Advisory Board Meeting our Police Beat Coordinator ask our board

to let the neighborhood know a few steps to take to help reduce the risk of burglary and

fire during this busy time of year.

• While you are away, stop delivery of newspapers to your home. Several newspapers in a driveway are a sign to thieves that no one is home.

• Be sure to either have your mail held at the Post Office or get a neighbor to daily collect your mail.

• If you can’t park your car in your garage, park it close to a light if possible.

• Do not leave valuables in your car.

• If you have to leave something in your car, make sure to hide it. Thieves look for cars with valuables in them, such as laptops, cell phones, wallets, keys, MP3 players and money. Even change in your cup holders can be enough for a thief to break into your car.

• In regards to fire safety, if you have a live Christmas tree, be sure to keep it properly watered. Do not use lights that get too hot, if the lights are too hot for you to safely hold in your hand for 1 minute, they are too hot for a Christmas tree.

• If you have a fireplace, make sure to let your ashes cool before you dispose of them. Wait at least 48 hours but before removing them, turn them to make sure there are no hot embers in the center.

We hope these tips help you in having a safe and Happy Holiday Season!

Covenants Renewal CommitteeOur Homeowners Association Covenants will soon be up for renewal. We are forming a committee to review and discuss any updates or changes that may need to be made. We are in need of anyone with legal expertise, notary public experience or individuals who may know reliable references. We also need input from homeowners. This will be an ongoing project that will refine our existing covenants and ensure they will be renewed for another 30 years. Decisions made will greatly effect future residents and participation is very important.

If you are interested in being involved please contact Rona Aguilar at [email protected].
