MORAY PRIMARY SCHOOL
INFORMATION TO ALL PARENTS / CARERS
August 2010
I am delighted to be able to tell you that additional Support for Learning
Assistant time is coming our way and this will help us to support the
children here. This is very welcome indeed and I look forward to workingwith some new staff members in time.
Mrs Stewart is settling in well once more following her maternity leave
and it is great to be working with her again. Baby Anna is almost one year
old now and is being cared for by family.
The MPP has a meeting planned for Thursday September 2nd and you may
come along to this in the staffroom at 7.00 p.m. MPP is Moray Parent
Partnership and this group meets regularly to support school and to
discuss issues related to school as a whole.
We are once again asking children to bring in some small change each
Friday at assembly time to help our chosen charities. We call this money
Helping Pennies and once we have £50 the children in each class have the
opportunity to select a charity to receive the money. Last session we
were able to support many charities and in total sent just short of £3000
to various good causes – well done to everyone who supported our Helping
Pennies.
Miss Deans, as you may know, is a gymnast and I’m really delighted to be
able to tell you that she has been selected to represent Great Britain at
the European Championships in October. This is a wonderful achievement
and one which we are all proud of. Julie is looking for some sponsorship
and so if any of you can assist please let me know.
The school telephone works as a system of extensions and there are two
phones in the main office. If someone is on a line the other phone will stillring and so you may think that our number is ringing out. I just need you
to know the situation in case you are trying to call us and think nobody is
in the office. Please keep trying and your call will be answered.

Please remember our GroupCall system for monitoring absences. We need
you to phone us in the morning before 9.15 a.m. if your child is absent
from school. We ask you to phone each day until your child comes back to
school. This is also important if your child goes home for lunch and is not
returning. We will also appreciate prior notice of appointments during the
school day so that we can note these in the diary. I must say that most
families are really good in relation to GroupCall and we do appreciate this. Please make sure that we have up to date telephone numbers in case we
need to contact you.
The children appear to be settled in the main and are looking great. A
couple of P1 children this week have been a little bit unsettled coming in
to school but sensitive handling by staff has ensured that they settle
quickly and get on with the activities planned.
I’d like to thank you for ensuring that uniform is being worn – well done to
everyone.
Falkirk Council Education Services have now moved their office staff etc
from McLaren House and various other venues, to Grangemouth. The new
address is Sealock House, 2 Inchyra Road and the phone numbers should
be the same.
We have noticed that some children are not bringing a jacket or coat with
them to school and the weather has been unpredictable to say the least.
Please ensure that your child has some kind of protective clothing to wear
outside in case of rain or a drop in temperature. At times, when the rain
is not too heavy, we do allow the children to go out at break times and so
a jacket is required. Similarly, when walking to and from school your child
could get really wet.
We have a holiday weekend coming up and school will be closed on Monday
September 13th.
Friday 10th will be a fundraising dress down day and children are asked to
bring 50p or £1 if they do not wear uniform. We have these days
periodically here to create some funds for school.
I hope that you are all well and getting back into the “school” routine once
again.
