Meadows School Newsletter 10 - May 2016 www.duffieldmeadows.derbyshire.sch.uk General Information Home-School Communications –the parent email groups are now complete and I believe you will have been receiving a series of test messages to make sure it’s running smoothly. This will continue throughout the rest of this term and the next whole-school email letter will be about the forthcoming photo day, so look out for that. We are aware of a glitch whereby some people have received multiple emails – this is known to the software company and will be fixed at their next upgrade, in the autumn. The aim is for all paper communications to cease from September. If you change your email address, please notify Candy on: [email protected] Please be assured that your email address will not be visible to any other parents. Parent Governor Vacancies – I can now confirm that three parents put their names forward and, as there were three vacancies there was no need for an election. The governors are: Mrs Gaynor Nutty, Dr Maghin Tamilarasan and Mr Jonathan Leach. Snacks in school – I would like to remind all parents that we only encourage children to bring healthy snacks to school, i.e. no sweets, crisps, chocolate bars, and sugar laden snacks such as cereal bars. I am seeing a lot of these ‘creeping in’ and it does concern me. Infants do not need to bring any snacks at all as they are provided with free fruit every day – when there is nothing else on offer they will happily eat this. Juniors may bring money for the healthy tuck shop or bring their own healthy snack. Coming soon … dates and events Full list of diary dates for the term: available now on the school website Owls Class Assembly: Friday 20 th Robins Class Assembly: Friday 27 th Other News I’m sure you have been watching the creation of the new play area with as much excitement as all of us here. We are so grateful to the PTFA for taking on this project and to all of you who have given so generously, through the PTFA events and through the JustGiving scheme. There will be a ‘grand opening’ next Friday, 20 May at 9:45am, immediately after the Owls class assembly. All parents are very warmly invited to come and join us for a short opening ceremony. Every now and then I give reminders about how to keep safe from bullying. So here are a few tips to bear in mind: Genuine bullying is more than a falling-out between friends. It must be S.T.O.P.
