Lilac Class News 2nd March 2018 We had lots of fun celebrating World book Day yesterday. Thank you for supporting the event by providing such amazing costumes and the books that inspired them. The children loved sharing their favourite stories and information books with one another. Unfortunately our scheduled visit from author Louise Tidey had to be postponed, but she has assured us she will be able to visit soon. The children are becoming expert map readers! We have looked at more maps of India and we are beginning to learn about colours and symbols. We also learned about the Taj Mahal and its history. In our writing lessons we completed our retellings of the story of Raj and the Snake Charmer. The children are working hard on editing skills. When we start to see signs of spring (hopefully soon!), ask your child to look carefully at the flowers they see. We have learned to label the main parts of a flowering plant and we are comparing the wild flowers here and in India. In maths we have been revisiting the number bonds and facts we know by heart and developing understanding of the number system to use them for speedy calculations We are learning about forgiveness in our RE work. The children might like to talk to you about examples of this in their every day lives.
