Artist Rachael Hallinan has invited schools in the Yarra Ranges to be involved in the donation of unwanted plastic toys for her upcoming project. Imagine a faux forest created in vivid colour and made entirely of discarded and broken toys. Throughout February/March, Yarra Ranges schools have the chance to contribute to a playful and unique, sustainable art-making project. Our school will host a toy donation box for Rachael. She will need thousands of toys for the successful installation of her thought-provoking Ersatz Fantasia Project, which will exhibit at the Yarra Ranges Museum from March 28 May 24. The Ersatz Fantasia Project is a fun and engaging way of encouraging people to take notice of the overuse of plastic in their lives. It is a reminder to consider materials when purchasing gifts and toys, to recycle and repurpose and to consider using environmentally friendly alternatives to buying, such as borrowing from toy libraries. The toys will be made into a big fantasy forest installation for the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum. Visit the project website for more information: http://rachaelhallinan.wix.com/ersatz-fantasia Toy Donations to be:

Made of plastic No batteries included Not fit for donation to a cause Able to be carried by one person

A collection box has been placed in the school foyer.

There has been a lot of activity already this year sharing what is happening in the classrooms. Now we have commenced a new year, you will need to check and change your tiqbiz selections to match the year level and information you want to receive. Passwords are available at the school office. To do this; 1. Go into the tiqbiz app and click the menu button in the top left. 2. Click find&tick. 3. Type in our school name, and click the school when it appears. 4. Leave the Whole School or General box ticked on, but on the specific year level boxes below you can tap to select and deselect the grades you require. 5. Once you have completed the changes you needed to make, return to the inbox.

Have a great week. Narelle Messerle and Deb Hobbis
