Principal’s Message
We have had such a great time
this term with many activities, busy
classrooms, a visit from The Jets,
inclusion sports day, visiting Work
Experience program with students
from Lambton High School, disco and celebrations of
our wonderful students.
Our Annual Presentation Day Assembly last Friday,
celebrated the achievements of all our students, as well
as our willing volunteers and the school’s Friends
Charity. Each student was presented with a certificate
acknowledging their hard work and improvements
across 2017. We had some special awards voted for by
all our staff and appreciate the Newcastle Community of
Schools Principals (Ian, Janelle and Stacey) coming to
help present awards to the worthy recipients.

Special congratulations to our students for their
positive behaviour and attitude as they sat patiently
through a long Assembly on such a hot day. We are
very proud of them. My thanks to all our dedicated
and hard-working staff who helped our students make
such positive achievements throughout the year a
wide variety of areas.
This week on Friday we will celebrate our Year 8s as
they ready for transition to Senior School from next year.
It will be both a happy and emotional time, and we know
they will continue to blossom in this next chapter of their
educational journey.
Special request to our families who have carers
dropping off or picking up their child from school:
We would appreciate your support if you have a carer
dropping off or picking up your child from school, that
they line up in the transport queue instead of parking
on the roadside, even if it is on the school kerb of
Christo Road. We have had a few safety concerns
about carers who may be new to the school or your
young person and are learning about routines and we
are avoiding any safety issues of the busy road with
many cars passing or parked close by.
Kind regards,
Judy Mouthaan
Principal (Relieving)

Sports Day
On Wednesday the 29th November, 17 very excited
Middle school students travelled by bus to Belmont
High School for a Variety sponsored Activate
Inclusion Sports Day! The fun and inclusive day was
about trying some different sports and types of active
recreation with specialist coaches and adaptive
equipment.
Students were able to participate in skill building
around the sports of netball, tennis, hockey,
basketball and the highlight, wheelchair football. It
was lovely to see the students all have a go and just
try their best. Many were surprised at what they were
able to do, especially when it came to ‘driving’ a
wheelchair! Some tired, but happy students on the
bus ride home. A great day was had by all!

Christmas Hampers for the Needy
We are collecting non-perishable food items for the
needy again this year. We have a special container in
the office if you would like to donate goods in cans,
bottles or packets that we can give to a local charity to
help make Christmas food hampers for those in need.
Any goods can be sent in with your child or delivered
to school. Many thanks to all those families who have
already donated.
