Looking for a Woman’s Bible Study?

Check out these options!

The Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study will begin on September 9th at 10 A.M. We will be studying the book of Hosea, “God’s Persistent Love.” We welcome anyone who is interested in getting to know other women of the church better and growing closer to the Lord and Savior as we learn from His Word in this 1st book of the Minor Prophets. Call Gayle Wylie for more information. The Tuesday morning Women’s Bible Study will be resuming on September 21st at 9:30 A.M. in the South Building Room 202. We will be studying 1-3 John. Please contact Mary Webb, Family Mailbox #235 if you have any questions. The Wednesday night Women in the Word Bible Study will be beginning a new study on begin September 29th. It is based on Isaiah 43:10 and is entitled "Believing God: Experiencing a Fresh Explosion of Faith. It explores what it means to believe God. Through studying the lives of Abraham, Moses and others from Hebrews 11 as examples of people who believed God, Beth Moore encourages women to deepen their own trust in God and receive a fresh word from Him. This Beth Moore study is a eleven week study and we will continue to meet in the Adult upstairs classroom—6:45 - 8:30 pm. Sign-ups will begin on September 5th. Watch the bulletin for any updates. Questions, contact Lynda Olson, Facilitator.

The Treasure of Mount St. Helens

Do you know there is a Little Grand Canyon at Mount St. Helens? Yes, and it was formed the same way as the real Grand Canyon in only a short period of time with a magnitude of water not dreamed of. This fact is a real treasure because geologists now acknowledge that the real Grand Canyon was formed in a short period of time. “The drainages include canyons 100’ deep. One was nicknamed the ‘Little Grand Canyon of the Toutle’ because it was a 1/40th scale model of the Grand Canyon’” (Seven Wonders of Mount St. Helens by Lloyd Anderson). This is explained in detail at the Seven Wonders Museum and Bookstore. There are also two state run facilities. There are at least two walks offered by the museum. Anderson would be your group guide for the day. One walk is about two hours and there is an easier walk for children. For more experienced walkers there is a map of the trails. Before leaving for a walk, Mr. Anderson will give a slide presentation about the mountain, linking it together with Creation and the Flood. This could be a one-day trip or extended by camping or staying in a motel. I would be happy to arrange a trip in September. Please feel free to contact me. Details would depend on how many are interested. Anyone may visit individually, but should call ahead to make sure the museum is open. Normal hours are 9:00-6:00 Monday through Saturday. Entrance is free, but the museum and bookstore are run by donations. Visitors packets are available by mail or on line. Hopefully this information has peaked your interest so that you would like to visit the treasure of Mount St. Helens and the majesty of God's creation located in our own “backyard.” Connie Egger

Women’s Retreat

Have you heard? Highline has our own women’s retreat held in the fall! We’re holding our Second Annual Women retreat for Highline Christian Church.

“Faith that Takes Flight:

Spiritual Bird Watching”

Date: Friday, October 1 -

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Location: Lakeview Retreat Center,

Federal Way, WA

Registration: $89.00

(Includes Housing & all Meals)

Along with fellowship and good times for the weekend, we will be taking a look at how God uses different birds as examples in how we are asked to live our lives for Him.

Last year we did light devotionals throughout the weekend. This year we are doing some of the same. But for those who wish something a little more, we have added a portion to dig a little deeper into the subject and the Word. It will basically involve some reflection questions for you, as well as the group, and a lot of God's Word. There will be leaders to guide you in this process. You do have a choice to opt out as well, nothing is forced.

Many of you came to our first retreat last fall and were pleasantly surprised by what was in store for you. Come get connected with each other again, and be filled with joy and fun. Bring along your fellow Highline buddies! Let them share in the fun and excitement too! There will be good food, good fellowship, even a campfire program and a worship time. There will also be lots of free time, fellowship and REST! Get away from your normal commitments and dirty dishes for the weekend!

We will have a table between services on September 5th and 12th or contact Linda or myself .

For September, we will be starting off right on the first - - September 1 - - with our potluck and meeting. We will share the summer travels we missed last meeting. There will also be a collection of goods to send to Haiti with the missions speakers, Bruce and Sherry Thacker. The camp registration is FREE, supported with free will offerings taken during the sessions, so come and enjoy a wonderful gathering. As if there aren't enough things going on during September, we would like to take in the Puyallup Fair. Come out for a mid-week visit during the first week of the fair, September 15. We will leave the church building at 9:30 a.m. and plan for a full day. Please sign up in the North Building Atrium as soon as possible. October will be time for a drive through the high country to view God's wonderful creation in living color. Counted

Have you ever wondered "how many people are homeless in our community?" Every January, the Bread of Life Mission conducts a one-night count of those who are sleeping homeless in the Seattle area. This year they counted 8,559! Sadly, this is a lot of people - and each one counts - so they launched their OneLess Homeless campaign to raise awareness and change more lives. Regardless of the situation, each person counts and they offer services to help. The mission sleeps 100 men each night at a cost of just over $15 per person. Will you help someone have a safe, clean bed with a gift? With your donation of $25, you will receive a $10 tax deduction and a t-shirt with a number representing Bread of Life's mission of reaching one more homeless in the Seattle area. Please prayerfully consider donating to the OneLess Homeless campaign by contacting the Bread of Life Mission at

www.eachpersoncounts.org.

Thank you, The Community Outreach Committee

What a blessing to be able to join with the family of God in welcoming Greg Laurie to Seattle this November! There will be three nights of great music (from Jeremy Camp, Kutless, Jars of Clay, and The Katinas) and great preaching. What I love about Greg Laurie, is the way he gives messages from the Bible, and he always reminds his audience that a relationship with Jesus is the most important thing in anyone's life. (I love Pastor Tim for the same reason!) So, Highline, are you excited? I am, and I'm inviting all of my friends who really need Jesus! Who are you inviting to Seattle Harvest, on November 5, 6 and 7?

Please join our brothers and sisters in Jesus as we pray for the upcoming Greg Laurie: Seattle Harvest and for those in our families, neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools who have yet to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. These prayer meetings are a wonderful evening of prayer and worshiping our Savior.

much fun! There were 30

children who attended.

The children learned

about Jesus through

songs, lessons, puppets, snacks, crafts

and activities. Thank you so much to all

the staff who volunteered for the week.

Thank you Highline for committing to

the needed supplies.

During the game time, we played a game

where the children put a blanket around

a doll representing Baby Jesus. The

children had a relay race to pass the

baby down the line. One of the most

active boys took the Baby Jesus doll

carefully in his arms, held the baby and

kissed it before passing it along the line.

Thank you Highline, for supporting this

event and allowing us to watch the

children love Jesus.
