New Owner’s Sewing Basics Second Tuesday of the month: Apr 11, May 9 (3:00-4:00pm)

Fee: No Charge with machine purchase @ J&R No. of Meetings: One (1) repeats each month Requirements: Bring your own machine, manual and accessories. Description: All electronic and computerized machines included. Learn accessories and basics of your machine, cleaning and maintenance, threading, winding bobbin, choosing stitches, seam, permanent reverse, jeans hemming, buttonholes and buttons.

Description: All home embroidery machines included. Learn machine set-up, hooping 101, calling up design from machine memory or flash drive, placement in hoop, rotation, basting in the hoop and stitching out. New Owner’s Serger Basics Third Tuesday of the month: Mar 21, Apr 18 (3:00-4:00pm)

Fee: No Charge with machine purchase @ J&R No. of Meetings: One (1) repeats each month Requirements: Bring your own machine, manual and accessories. Description: All sergers included. Learn threading basics: 4-Thread Overlock, Rolled Hem, Coverlock stitches. Learn how to adjust tensions for a quality serger stitch.

Sewing Terms Give your vocabulary a boost!

BINDING – Strip of fabric used to cover or enclose raw edges. FEED DOGS – Located beneath the presser foot, these “teeth” move the fabric under the presser foot. MACHINE TENSION – Controlled by disks to apply drag to the machine thread. Adjust it for thread and fabric variances. STITCH IN THE DITCH – Stitching inside the “valley” or “groove” of a seam.

Be sure to bring your dongle or other security device as required to open your software. Description: Learn basics of the software program. Learn to bring a design onto the screen, manipulate the design by resize, rescale, change thread colors, rotate, reposition. Learn to add text and manipulate text in a variety of ways, add and align multiple lines of text. Learn to select hoop size and orientation, center your design, save design, send, and move or copy design to your flash drive. Learn basics of organizing your designs and how to search designs.

Rosemary’s Tote Bag Class Mar 25, Apr 1 (1:00-4:00) Skill Level: Beginner to Proficient Fee: $30 Description: Join Rosemary for 2 days of fun! You will make a cute tote bag in this 2-part class. The tote bag is durable, sturdy, and stylish, made with fabric straps and a pocket. Make one for yourself, and another for a friend! This class is for beginners thru proficient sewists.

Floriani Embroidery Threads Floriani Embroidery threads come in over 300 colors. Spool sizes are 1000 meters

and 5000 meters. With a beautiful rayon-like sheen, this polyester thread

is a joy to use.

Edge to Edge Quilting Class Mar 25 (9:30-Noon) Apr 1 (9:30-Noon) Apr 19 (2:00-4:30) Apr 29 (1:00-3:30) Skill Level: Beginner to Proficient Fee: $20 Description: Nancy will be teaching the Edge to Edge Quilting technique, which is quilting in the hoop. Come to class with a crib size (minimum) project (top, batting & backing) ready to quilt. Choose from 1 of 4 sessions offered.
