About Us

Hello, my name is Anthony.

I set up New Horizons Support Services after regular discussions with individuals and their carers. Reading recent reports by the States of Jersey and the changing needs of our local community, showed the need for a service provider who could provide a person centred approach to social care in Jersey.

I also believe we have a uniquely beautiful island with a stunning natural environment, and we have events and attractions that many people would not have the opportunity to experience without the support provided in our holiday packages.

I have worked for 8 years in the Health and Social Care sector in a variety of settings, including Residential Care, Day Services and the Voluntary Third Sector. This has provided me with first-hand experience of the issues service users and their parents/carers face. In this time I have developed networks with various Community Services and local service providers.

In these roles I have worked with a wide range of people with Special Needs, from those with

profound physical needs, to people who require highly structured programmes and higher ratios of staffing. I have worked on complex transitions from the school environment into Adult Services. I am experienced in creating Life Skills programmes and also staff training programmes for projects supporting individuals with Autistic spectrum conditions.

I have developed daily activity programmes and communication tools, have experience writing Care Plans, Risk Assessments and Person Centred Plans. I also have experience in organising and running Activity Days and Service User holidays.

My role in Residential Care involved assisting people with tasks that need to be met on a daily basis such as food hygiene and shopping. It also involved helping the residents to develop themselves as individuals and create targets they wished to achieve.

Until recently, I was the longest serving volunteer in the befriending scheme for Autism Jersey. I also spent a short time as a trustee for the charity helping to oversee the Adult Social Club. Before leaving the finance sector, I would volunteer with the Jersey Youth Service in their then fledgling inclusion project, which involved working at a youth club set up for teenagers with Asperger’s.
