New Idea for a Feature: Blizzard 2: But Wait, There’s More (Aaaah!!!) (expanding upon the

short)

Part 1:

In a North Dakota far, far away, the mayor is dead. Little ol’ Tom… I think he actually had a life

on Mars with that last name much to Bowie’s chagrin, died. With just a week to go until the

elections, no one really knows what to do. So Spencer Brown assumes the role of mayor and

just kind of casually usurps the role from the newly deceased Tom, causing more TMZ-like

fracas across the country. Inaugurated as interim mayor the next week in lieu of the elections,

Spencer Brown begins his first term as mayor of Willisberg.

Part 2:

Reality settles in. Great Scott! He’s a mayor! He has a position of power, even if it’s to a town of

5000. His first task is simple. Hold the vote on the Wal-Mart they (the company) wants to open

in the town. He knows the town doesn’t want it because of the effect it would have on the

locals and small business, but at the same time, the CEOs are promising good jobs and lots of

money and growth. In the end, he goes with the corporation and grants their wish, much to the

dismay of the city council and the people. This leads him to be massively disliked by the town

and some people close to him, including his wife, for abandoning what he was appointed to do.

This is about a month in, so mid-December. At the annual tree lighting, he Is booed by many. He

finds himself dealing with his own marital problems, as well. Towards Christmas Day, when he

shows up to the town’s Christmas service, the doors are locked with people outside protesting

for his resignation.

Part 3:

His reputation is slightly tarnished in the new year, along with more troubles - dealing with

more marital troubles, when he discovers his wife cheating on him with Jim Bob – Janet’s

husband. He must find new ways to fix his life and fix his career, otherwise someone can recall

him when actual elections happen in March. People want him to go, and again, he gains the

attention of the nation – repeatedly being branded “America’s Worst Mayor”. So he tries

multiple ways to save face through speeches and stuff, but in the end, come March, he loses

the election… to his wife. She uses his aborted trash of a mayoral run to do her own thing, and

ends up being elected to a four-year term. The people rejoice that the reign of terror is over

and the first thing she does is give the finger to both people: corporations and her husband.

Presumably, Spencer lives to the tender age of 85, dying knowing politics was never his forte.
