You may already have met them in both our Brown’s Line and Hamilton branches. MOYA SHARES THE BENEFITS OF BANKING AT YOUR COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION

This summer, Moya attended several Slovenian community events to raise awareness of the benefits of banking at a credit union. Moya’s tent was visible at the Pečenkafest in July, at the soccer and baseball weekend at the Slovenian Summer Camp in August, and at the traditional Oktoberfest at the Slovenian Hunters’ & Anglers’ Club in Alliston at the beginning of September.

Moya staff shared some helpful resources and provided information for those interested in learning more. Moya’s

wheel of fortune was a huge hit with the children, who won many useful prizes at the events. This summer promotion was also an opportunity for Moya to collect feedback from members and from others interested in joining our credit union with a short survey.

Participants had the chance to win two Toronto FC tickets. We are pleased to announce the winner of the tickets is Paul Podobnik. Congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS TO MOYA FINANCIAL SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!

Natalie Marentic is attending the University of Toronto, Mississauga, to study humanities. She plans to major in French with a double minor in chemistry and biology. She also plans to apply to teachers’ college upon earning her undergraduate degree. Natalie’s career ambition is to become a teacher to “encourage, enlighten, and inspire.”

Natalie attended St. Joseph Secondary School, where she was actively involved in several teams and clubs while maintaining an impressive average, achieving honour roll status all four years. Since graduating from Slovenska Šola, Natalie has been actively involved with the Slovenian community. She has been a teacher’s assistant at the school as well as a junior leader for the Slovenian Girl Scouts, where she was able to showcase her stellar leadership skills.

Jacqueline Anne Pinnington is enrolled in the kinesiology program at the University of Toronto, where she will prepare to pursue a wide array of career choices or continue to study at professional or graduate school.

Jacqueline attended Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School. Upon graduating, she received Ontario Scholar and Extended

French certificates. Her involvement at high school extended beyond academics to include sports, music, and leadership experiences. As an active member of the Slovenian community, Jacqueline completed grades 1 to 7 at Slovenska Šola and travelled to Slovenia with her classmates and school staff. She has also been a member of the Nageljcki and Nagelj Slovenian Cultural Dance Group since 2005 and has performed at numerous venues across Canada and the United States.

We would like to wish both winners – and all those who applied for the scholarship – success in their upcoming studies!
