WELCOME KCA PAST PRESIDENTS!
YOLANDA ADREAN, Atlanta City Council City of Atlanta
"Triumphs and Challenges - 2016 and Beyond"
Yolanda Adrean was first elected to the Atlanta City Council District 8 in 2009, centered on a strong desire to bring fiscal accountability to the city and to raise the bar on how decisions are made at city hall. A former CPA with Ernst & Young, she was appointed Chair of the Finance Committee as a freshman coun-cilmember and led the city in financial reform, includ-ing reform of the city’s pension plan, leading to savings of over $20 million. Additionally, Adrean led efforts to require quarterly re-porting of financial results, cash flow and debt analysis. With strict fiscal management, the city came through the greatest recession in modern history improving fund reserves from $7 million to over $150 million dollars, without raising taxes. Credit ratings are the highest they have been in decades. Adrean also chaired the Zoning Committee, Committee on Council and is presently the Chair of Transportation. She has been a strong leader and advocate for neighbor-hoods for many years. She served on several communi-ty and educational boards while raising her two daugh-ters. Her early years were spent on a working family farm in upstate New York and is a strong champion for the environment, active lifestyles and family.

KI CONVENTION REPORT BY JAMES OTTLEY As a first time attendee to the Kiwanis International convention, I was incredibly impressed by the ideas that were put forth in the working sessions and meetings for growing membership. I took away a number of practi-cal ideas that I believe that we can implement in our club to grow our membership and further our goal of helping kids while learning serving and connect-ing. The enthusiasm and inspiration of the delegates was infectious, and I know I speak for Mike and Karen when I write that we are hitting the ground running.
