Maximizing Your Opportunity for Selection
• Student Application forms are available for those students in grades 10-12 who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or above and have been in attendance at Smithville High School for a minimum of 1 semester.
• Each form is evaluated and scored by members of the Faculty Advisory Committee.
• A student can earn a maximum of 60 points. These points are
earned in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
• Scores in all areas will be totaled and ranked in order from highest to lowest.
• The faculty advisory committee then double checks the final
scores and finalizes the cut-off score. • Final scores are seen only by the committee and are sealed
thereafter.

• All staff members will consider the traits of honesty, attitude, responsibility, kindness, and work ethic.
• Applicants will receive a character score from 1 to 10. That number is multiplied by 2 to get the overall character score.
