Significant Program Expansion 2009-2010

$300 million in expansion funds for the NHSC resultingfrom the February 2009 American Reinvestment andRecovery Act (ARRA)

Additional FY2010 Funding at $142 million

The goal is to support approximately 4,200 additionalclinicians by more than doubling the size of the NHSCworkforce.

(Work with your States PCO.)

New Opportunities for Sites with Lower

HPSA Scores

Clinicians working in sites with Lower HPSAs havegreater opportunities for receiving loan repayment.

There are higher thresholds for NHSC clinicians at NHSCsites.

Loan Repayment Awardees (LR) Sites with HPSA Scores 0-9 can have up to 10 LRs per site

Sites with HPSA Scores 10-13 can have up to 12 LRs per site

Sites with HPSA Scores 14-26 can have up to 15 LRs per site

Scholars

Placed in sites with HPSA scores 17 and above. 1 Scholar per discipline/specialty/per site

The higher the HPSA score, the greater the need.

Reauthorization of NHSC Program through 2015 Increases maximum loan repayment amount from up to$35,000 to $50,000

Half-Time Loan Repayment; 2 & 4 year contracts Community Health Centers and NHSC Funds

Teaching as Clinical Practice up to 20% credit ofobligated service
