New Delhi, May 4:A special CBI court in

New Delhi is likely to commence tomorrow the recording of statements of the accused, including former Telecom Minister A. Raja, in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.Special CBI judge

O.P. Saini, who had earlier supplied the draft questionnaire containing 1,718 questions running into 824 pages to the 17 accused, including Mr. Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi and three top executives of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (RADAG), had fixed the matter for Monday.The special court ,

cons t i t u t ed to dea l exclusively with the 2G scam related cases, is also scheduled to start on Monday the recording of

statements of the accused, including promoters of Essar Group and Loop Telecom, facing trial in a case arising out of the probe into the radiowave scam.In the case involving

Raja and 16 others, the court had on November 27 last year concluded recording of prosecution evidence after deposition of CBI’s Superintendent of Police Vivek Priyadarshi, the chief investigating officer, got over.In the case involving

the promoters of Essar Group and Loop Telecom, the court had given a quest ionnaire to the eight accused having 645 questions each and running into 308 pages.CBI had filed charge

Telecommunication (DoT) by using Loop Telecom as a “front” to secure 2G licences in 2008.Essar Group promoters

Ravi Ruia and Anshuman Ruia, Loop Telecom promoters Kiran Khaitan, her husband I.P. Khaitan and Essar Group Director (Strategy and Planning) Vikash Saraf are facing trial in the case along with three firms — Loop Telecom Ltd. , Loop Mobile India Ltd. and Essar Tele Holding Ltd.All of them have denied

the charges levelled by CBI in the case, arising out of the probe into the 2G spectrum scam.In the case involving

second derailment on the Konkan route in the last one month. Earlier, it was closed for almost 23 hours due to the derailment of a goods train inside a tunnel near Ratnagiri town, affecting railway traffic severely.

‘Nee enge en Anbe’ one of Bollywood’s biggest hit till date is Vidhya Balan’s thriller ‘Kahaani’ and Shekhar Kammula a known Telugu director has remade the movie in this bilingual with quite a lot of inspiration and some twists that makes the movie still enjoyable. The movie stars Nayanthara as a lead, Vaibhav, Pasupathi etc.Nayantara, who steps into

Balan’s role as Anamika, arrives in Hyderabad from the USA and heads, like in remake, straight to the police station to report her husband’s disappearance. Her cabbie is amused by this; ‘ I have never taken anyone from the airport to the police chowki’, he quips to Anamika.A lot of what happens

thereafter – including her friendship with Sarathy (Vaibhav Reddy), the Tamil-speaking cop (in a city where Anamika has a language problem, because everybody talks in Telugu), her decision to stay in a seedy lodging house (because he r husband was there before he vanished) and the

way she is brutalised by law enforcement officer Khan (Pasupathy, who arrives from Delhi to investigate terror and the disappearance) -- has all been seen in Kahaani.There are some changes

in the film Nee Enge En Anbe : like a special task force humiliating Anamika in her hotel room, like Sarathy taking her to meet his mother and so on.W h a t h o w e v e r

d i sappo in ted in the movie were the mediocre performances. Reddy is a poor patch on Parambrata Cha t t e r j e e (R i tw i ck Ghatak’s grandson who played the part of the

cop, Satyoki ‘Rana’ Sinha in Kahaani, and befriends Bagchi). Nayanthara does his part well with his charming act.T h e c l i m a x i s

wonderfully shot and brings about the best in all technical aspects. Keeravani’s background score through the film is amazing, and grips the screenplay with some immense and pulsating bass effects, to mention the climax with the Durga pooja. The USP of the movie is screenplay and twist and turn in climax.Over all the movie

is family entertainer, watchable once for all.

Director Gareth Edward share with us about the making of Godzilla and technical aspects of the film.Godzilla an upcoming thriller movie which is gearing up to release next week.When you making a

movie about an icon like Godzilla, how did you approach shaping this character with all his personality and presence? ,Edward says ‘Yeah, it’s funny. At the start of the process I felt that in some way we could decide and control who Godzilla was. And a strange thing that came from it was that, as we went along, you start to realize that Godzilla was going to tell us who he was, just like actors who have their own take on their characters. Strangely, we couldn’t totally dictate what it was going to be. It was more about just trying different ideas and permutations, and, of all the options, there was always one that was strongest. And slowly he revealed himself to us. One of the conversations you get into with the animators quite often is they would say, ;If this was a real human, a real character, who would he be? And after thinking about it for a while, the thing we came up with was that he was sort of like the last Samurai. It was that idea of a lone, ancient warrior that would prefer to just not be part of the world if he could and be left alone, but

Godzilla, all the secrets to roar

events in the world force him to resurface. It was very interesting with all these ideas, even designing his look. We have a set of instinctive reactions to animals that have evolved over millions of years, and you basically try different things until you feel the right emotion when you see him. I wanted to get something that was very noble. And we tried the obvious things, like bear faces and dogs. But something that felt the most noble was a bird of prey, like an eagle. finding his iconic roar for your film?, Yeah. And Erik Aadahl, who’s one of the sound designers, really has all the secrets about the roar. He won’t actually tell me how he’s achieved a lot of

the sound effects because often these things are achieved through the most bizarre ways. They’re not even animals sometimes, so he doesn’t want me to know because he thinks.

which had taken up the rehabilitation project in July last year, completed the work as per designs and specifications of the Civil Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology-IIT (Madras) and Indian Institute of Sciences-IIS (Bangalore), appointed by the Tamil Nadu Road

Sector Project (TNRSP). “We have completed t h e c omp r e h e n s i v e r e h ab i l i t a t i o n wo rk and after finishing the ongoing black topping and concreting of footpath works, the stretch will be ready for traffic later this month-end or early June,” G. Ramakrishnan, Manag i ng D i r e c t o r , M.R.Hi-Tech Engineers, said.Once the stretch is

thrown open to traffic, congestion on roads in Ramanathapuram town will ease considerably as all vehicles coming from the southern districts could pass through the stretch on the ECR without entering the town.The approach roads

were made ready six

months before the railways completed the ROB in April 2011. But before the stretch was opened for traffic, the road got sunk after the retaining walls in both the sides started yielding. A Bangalore-based contractor had originally executed the project for the TNRSP.T h e M .R .H i - T e c h

the ends of the walls were tied with 32 mm rods at an interval of 1.5 m in bottom layer and 3 m interval in top layer, he said. In addition, cement concrete blocks were casted to a depth varying from 1 m to 2.8 m on both sides of retaining wall on the toe sides to strengthen the existing wall, he said.Before strengthening

the retaining walls, about 36,000 cubic metres of earth was removed from five metre depth and refilled.T h e r e h a b i l i t a t e d

approach ramps had 7.5 metre driveway with additional footpaths, he added.

Tiruppur, May 4:Passenger train running

between Coimbatore and Erode rammed a Lamb while crossing Tirupur and had to be halted for over fan hour to rectify the damaged battery housed in the engine.

As the train crossed Tiruppur and the next station Uttakuli and was nearing Vijayamangalam, a sheep ran astray from it’s herd and was rammed, in the collision the engine was damaged and the train came to a grinding

halt.The engine dr iver

noticed that five coaches of the train had plunged into darkness as the power system had crashed. He swung into action and did the necessary repair works and managed to run the

train again.The passenger train

was supposed to arrive in Erode by 7 pm but it was delayed by an hour and could reach only at 8pm. Of course the sheep was killed on impact.

have been striving hard to protect temple lands and one of the regular features of weekly grievances meet at the collectorate usually is petition by villagers and devotees demanding eviction of encroachers from irrigation tanks and temple lands.The issue poses a challenge indeed.However, the authorities

of Samayapuram Sri Ma r i amman t emp l e have taken up a series of measures to evict encroachers and protect temple lands. These lands were donated to the temple over a period of eight decades.An in-depth study

of immovable assets belonging to the temple conducted las t year

revealed that the temple owned about 70 acres of land in several parts in and around Samayapuram town. About 30 acres of it had been encroached.A s p e c i a l t e a m

c omp r i s i n g t em p l e employees and retired surveyors was set up for tracing the old records and documents and for measuring the extent of the land. The team culled out old records and registration details to come out with surprising information.One of the documents

pertained to a 2.25 acre of land donated to the temple in 1928. Fortunately, it had escaped the menace of encroachment.“In some cases, the

encroachers had built concrete structures that

inc lude smal l sca le industries, houses, and shopping complexes,” says G.Thennarasu, Joint Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable E n d o wm e n t s , a n d Executive Officer of the temple.The study revealed that

several properties are located at different places in the then Samayapuram village not far from the Tiruchi-Chennai National H ighway. Wi t h t h e conversion of the NH 45 into a four-lane one, real estate trade has been witnessing a boom.The steps initiated by

the temple has come as a timely measure to protect these properties. “We have set up hoardings at these sites to check e n c r o a c hmen t s a n d

unauthorised registration,” says Thennarasu.Although hoardings

help temple authorities to protect encroachment-free sites, the problem is in respect with lands where the encroachers have filed cases in courts in Lalgudi and Tiruchi.According to devotees,

expeditious settlement of cases would go a long way in retrieving these sites.Devotees say tha t

Anti-Land Grabbing Cell should be involved in checking the menace .Registration Department

should also be alerted with survey numbers and other land record details to prevent illegal or unauthorised sale of temple lands.
