Slide 2 NATIONAL AWARDS CHANGES 2015 Slide 3 WELCOME SISTERS! This presentation gives you an overview of changes taking place with our national awards. Plan to join us for our first annual virtual awards night being held on facebook on October 11 th 7:30pm EST. We will spend time together cheering on chapters and associations who will receive recognition for some awards yet we will still give biannual recognition at National Convention for remaining areas. Check out our new awards website with a revised list of awards descriptions, packets with application examples and links to our new electronic google.doc applications!website www.thetaphialpha.org/awards-forms Slide 5 Slide 6 Slide 7 NEW & UPDATED NATIONAL AWARDS Slide 8 RUTH M THOMPSON ALUMNAE GREEK LIFE AWARD At a 2015 meeting of the Board of Trustees, in honor of Sister Emeritus Ruth Thompson, a new award was designated for alumnae associations who have made significant contributions to a Alumnae Panhellenic Councils/Associations in addition to the award already named after Ruth for chapters to apply for. Slide 9 PATRICIA MARMADUKE DELEGATE AWARDS Renamed in 2015, in honor of Sister Emeritus Patricia Marmaduke, this award is presented to the Chapter & Alumnae Association Delegates who each play an active and constructive part in Convention business, (added criteria) is a role model with her use of parliamentary procedure and Robert's Rules, is friendly towards all sisters, and is an informative and responsible representation of her chapter/association. Slide 10 UPDATED PAT GIALLANZA HOSPITALITY AWARD Presented to the chapter(s) that most successfully planned and implemented the visit of the Leadership Consultant. Award is based on completing required paperwork, scheduling chapter activities during the visit, providing adequate food and lodging arrangements (within their means), displaying hospitality and recommendations of the Leadership Consultants. Additional consideration will now be given to those chapters who showed great stewardship in the upkeep of their chapter rolls and ritual equipment as reflected in the LC reports. Slide 11 CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE Application is now completely electronic and no awards binders are required. This COE application has been minimized to half the length it was previously. Every chapter applying may now optionally also submit a multimedia presentation in addition to their application. This can be a youtube video, slideshow, etc. to uniquely show why your chapter is outstanding in all COE criteria areas. Slide 12 IMPORTANT TIPS Before you hit submit on any application please print out the completed page or copy & save it. You will not receive a copy of the completed form in your confirmation email. If your application requires a letter of recommendation (LOR) consider sharing a copy of your application with whom you are requesting the LOR from. LORs are to be submitted directly from recommender on the awards website. Slide 13 MORE TIPS On your application confirmation page there will be a link to edit your responses up until 4/30/16. We highly recommend that you click on it and then SAVE a copy of address bar (see next photo for example) in case you want to add/edit more information later. Do not save the link that says "link to blank form. Please be careful, if you share your link with anyone else they too will be able to edit your original information. Slide 14 EDITING AN APPLICATION AFTER SUBMISSIONS Slide 15 Slide 16 EXCITING TROPHY NEWS Starting at Convention 2016 most awards will be take home awards and will no longer be traveling trophies. Those who wish to borrow a retired trophy will be able to do so at your chapter/association expense for engraving and shipping if you won that biennium. Slide 17 RETURNING 2014 TROPHIES If your chapter or association won an award at the 2014 Convention, now is the time to locate it and ensure it is excellent condition for retirement to our archives. If you win an award again you may check-out the retired trophy at your expense and keep it until the next awardee wins (1-2 years).
