In 1996, five Ohio University students spent summer vacation working at Cedar Point amusement park
After park closed each night, employees could ride rides as many times as they wanted—for free!

Students loved riding coasters; decided to start a club
Encouraged classmates to join them the next summer at Cedar Point
NARCE founded in fall of 1996
NARCE Mission Statement
The mission of NARCE is to promote the appreciation, knowledge, and enjoyment of roller coasters; to promote and maintain good working relationships with the outdoor amusement business; and to promote the preservation and continued operation of roller coasters nationwide.
