WHY WE REALLY CHOSE THIS• It is a fun game• It requires creativity• We enjoy it

HOW TO PLAY
FIRST OF ALL…• Dungeons and Dragons is played
mostly verbally or using boards and game pieces.
• There is no single objective in Dungeons and Dragons- you “win” by gaining levels, completing quests, getting treasure, etc.
• The game set in a world created and run by the “Dungeon Master”.
• All successes and failures are based on the roll of the die.

STEP 4 - BATTLE• Fighting can either take
place purely verbally, on a board of some kind, or somewhere in between.

DUNGEON MASTERING
WORLD BUILDING FOR DM’S• The DM’s job is to create an alternate, believable world,
filled with creatures and items.• Don’t plan all aspects out at once- make general
statements about the world, to be filled in later.• Make it fun: fun is dangerous, and fantastical, with “story
hooks”.
USE OF FOES• All creatures in the game have their own powers, hit points,
abilities, etc., like the players, found in the Monster Manual(s).
MAKING DUNGEONS• A classic part of Dungeons and Dragons.
• In the sewers/aqueducts of a city• In ancient catacombs• In an active volcano.• In a dwarf mine• Etc…
• Consider objectives.• What have the characters come to do?
• Consider difficulty.• Is the Dungeon challenging? Too hard?
• Consider atmosphere.• Is it suspenseful? Interesting?
