Assessment week It has been assessment week here in school and the children have been working hard, showing us what they have learned over the past few weeks. They have also been busy working on DT projects. We have a lovely display in school of the work that has been done in school and at home.
Witchy Walk The Rotary club have organised a Halloween walk on 31st October at St Georges Park. Please see the attached information and note that you must take a completed form with you to take part. Copies of the leaflet are available in the reception area.
#HelloYellow day We had a fun, bright day on Friday with nearly every child and staff member wearing yellow. We raised a staggering £245.00 on the day. Well done everyone. There are some yellow class photos over the page.
School video Our new school video is now live on our website for you all to watch and share with potential new families.
Parents evenings By the end of the week you will receive a letter about parents evenings. Due to social distancing requirements we will be having telephone parents evenings this year along with the option of a short report instead. Please fill in your slips and return to classes as soon as possible as slots will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
School photos Next Thursday, we are having Academy Portraits come into school to take individual school photos. If you would like sibling photos taken please book an early time slot at the school office and you must be here for 8.25am. Due to current restrictions we cannot include siblings who attend Phoenix.
Richings We will now be having Richings Contracting Services visiting once a fortnight to maintain the school grounds, from grass cutting to pruning bushes and hedges and leaf clearing.
Year 1 More exciting homework has been brought into school, in Year 1 this week. Riley has been fishing and made a clay fish and
Freya has made a giraffe in a zoo, all by herself! Lovely to see so many children inspired to continue learning at home.
Reception Reception class are learning about money. We are singing ‘5 currant buns in a bakers shop’ to help us.
We took a virtual walk around Bristol zoo and saw gorillas, lions, flamingos, hippos, penguins and lemurs, it was fun!
Year 2 We have been writing our own stories. By Thomas.
We had Forest School yesterday and we set fire to a house we made. The cheese survived! By Theo. We had a great afternoon.
Year 4 Scarlett - I really enjoyed Art this week because we were drawing and sketching flowers for our topic.
Rares - I have loved Maths this week because there was a really tricky problem to work out about keeping information in your head!
Year 5 We made book marks, added and subtracted decimals, started dot to dots. We painted spit fires and are looking forward to starting to make our Anderson Shelters tomorrow.
Value Badges These are some very generous Y4 children who won in the raffle last Friday at least 2 times and then re-donated one of their prizes back for those who hadn't won to
have a chance at doing so! Nominated by Mrs Wingfield and Mr Walton. Well done!
Year 3 We made our own games this week—Maths snakes and ladders! We had questions for column addition and our 2,5,10 and 3 x tables! Play
The Earthshot Prize Last week Prince William and Sir David Attenborough launched a new prize that is hoped will become the ‘Noble Prize for environmentalism’. There are five goals for our planet over the next ten years: fix our climate, build a waste-free world, revive our oceans, clean our air, protect and restore nature. Simple but ambitious goals for our planet which, if achieved by 2030, will improve life for us all, for generations to come. Please see earthshotprize.org and sign up for more information and follow davidattenborough on Instagram and see what things you can do to help make a change at home. This is our chance to save the planet for our children and their children.
Year 6 In Maths, we have been learning about the highest and lowest common multiples of numbers.
In English, we have been writing letters to our Viking families. We have been using the Viking Runic alphabet. We have been learning about Ghandi in our Topic.
Soil/Compost We are looking for a kind donation of about 5/6 bags of top soils or compost to finish off the Year 1 garden area before we can seed it with grass. Please get in touch with us if you can help.
