30 October 2017 The issues described in the attached URGENT: MEDICAL DEVICE CORRECTION letter only occur during an import of a drug library. If you have performed an import of a Plum 360 drug library or there is a need to perform an import of a Plum 360 drug library, performing a comparison of the drug library pre- and post- import is required to determine if the drug library is affected by the issues described in the attached letter. If you have not performed an import of a Plum 360 drug library or there is no need to perform an import of a Plum 360 drug library, then no action is required. Performing a pre-/post-import drug library comparison will require comparing the Comma Separated Files (.csv) export of the drug library prior to importing into MedNet™ Meds™ with the Comma Separated Files (.csv) export of the drug library after importing into MedNet Meds. The comparison instructions provided in this document utilize Microsoft Excel version 2010 to perform the comparison of the pre- and post-imported drug libraries.
Export Steps: Step 1) Export the Plum 360 drug library to ‘csv’ file.
a. Within MedNet Meds select the Plum 360 drug library from the Library Directory tab and click the ‘Export’ button. b. In the ‘Export Library’ dialog click the ‘Browse…’ button. c. In the ‘Open’ file dialog box select ‘Comma Separated Files (*.csv)’ and enter a name and location to save the file. In this example the file name used was ‘Pre-Export’.
d. Click the ‘Select’ button in the Open dialog and click ‘OK’ in the Export Library dialog.

Step 2) Export the Plum 360 drug library to ‘xml’ file.
a. Perform the same steps defined in Step 1, except select XML Files (*.xml) for the file type.
b. Click the ‘Select’ button in the Open dialog and click ‘OK’ in the Export Library dialog.
There should be two files that were exported from MedNet Meds: one with the ‘.csv’ extension and the other with ‘.xml’ extension. Step 3) Import the Plum 360 ‘xml’ file back into MedNet Meds.
a. Within MedNet Meds click the ‘Import’ button. b. Within the Import Library dialog, choose “Plum 360 15.0X” or “Plum 360 15.1X” option of the drug library that was exported during ‘Step 2’ for the ‘Import From’ and ‘Import To’ sections. c. Select the exported ‘xml’ file that was created during ‘Step 2’ to import the drug library and name the drug library that will be imported. It is recommended to choose a filename that indicates the file will be used for comparison only.

Step 4) Export the Plum 360 drug library to ‘csv’ file.
a. Repeat ‘Step 1’ and export a ‘.csv’ file of the drug library that was imported via ‘Step 3’.
After performing the ‘Export Steps’ described above, there should be two ‘.csv’ files to be compared with one another to determine if there are any differences in the ‘Allow piggyback to interrupt this infusion’ and ‘Piggyback delivery allowed’ columns. As mentioned above, the following comparison instructions will use Microsoft Excel version 2010 to perform the comparison, but any comparison tool will suffice in determining if MedNet Meds changed the piggyback options during the import process.

Comparison Steps: Step 1) Open the two ‘csv’ files in Microsoft Excel.
a. In this example the two files are ‘Pre-Export.csv’ and ‘Post-Export.csv’ files. b. Move/Copy the one of the ‘sheets’ from one Excel file to the other Excel file so that both the ‘Pre-
Export’ and ‘Post-Export’ sheets are in the same Excel Workbook.

c. Use the “Save As” command to save the file into a separate Excel Workbook ‘.xlsx’ file, with a filename
that will delineate a comparison. An example filename is ‘Compare Drug Libraries.xlsx’.

Step 2) Compare the two ‘csv’ sheets by highlighting the cells that have different values in the two sheets.
a. Select the ‘Post-Export’ sheet (tab) from the ‘Compare Drug Libraries.xlsx’ file and select cell ‘A1’.
b. Select all the cells that have content by pressing Ctrl + Shift + End keys.

c. On the ‘Home’ tab, in the ‘Styles’ group, click ‘Conditional Formatting’ and select ‘New rule’.
d. Within the ‘New Formatting Rule’ dialog select ‘Use a formula to determine which cells to format’. In
the ‘Edit the Rule Description’ section enter the formula =A1<>'Pre-Export'!A1.
Note: change the name in the formula to the name used for your sheet name if is it different than ‘Pre-Export’.

e. Click the ‘Format…’ button to open the ‘Format Cells’ dialog and select the ‘Fill’ tab. Select a color that will be used to highlight the cells that are different and click ‘OK’.
Now any cells that are different between the two sheets (Pre-Export & Post-Export) will be highlighted.

The Excel ‘Filter’ feature can be used to further aid in viewing highlighted cells if they exist.
Filter Steps: Step 1) Select the cells to be filtered.
a. Select cell ‘A2’, which will contain the header label ‘Generic Name’ and press the keys Ctrl + Shift + End to select all cells to the end of the spreadsheet. b. On the ‘Home’ tab, in the ‘Editing’ group, click ‘Sort & Filter’ and select ‘Filter’.

Step 2) Filter on highlighted cells
a. On cell Q2 (Allow piggyback to interrupt this infusion) click the down arrow and select ‘Filter by Color’ and choose the color used to highlight differences.
Only rows that were highlighted by differences will be visible.
The same steps can be applied to column R (Piggyback delivery allowed) to view differences as well.

If there were differences found between the two ‘.csv’ files, the drug library was changed during the import process into MedNet Meds. Use the information learned from this comparison to update the post-import drug library worksheet within the MedNet Meds program as needed by following the steps to edit a medication entry in a CCA found in Chapter 9: Plum A+ and Plum 360 Medication Entries of the MedNet Meds User Guide.
