36 year-old George is the son of Italian immigrants, an AFL tragic, and a pretty bloody good mechanic (if he does say so himself). He and his wife Val have three kids, two of which are in primary school. The

youngest is dropped off in the mornings to George’s in-laws in the next suburb, which takes enormous

strain off the family’s bills and adds considerably more lasagna to their fridge. Much to his wife’s frustration,

George likes to think he’s a bit of a handyman. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it takes a few tries.

In George’s mind, it’s a smart cost-cutting measure, with the extra money going towards the kids’ soccer

registration and school supplies.
