WHAT’SNEW INTHEINDUSTRY

In 2019, the global renewable energy market is set to reach US$777.3 billion in value, driven in part by internaonal climate incenves.

Myanmar’s ministry is aiming to generate 8% of the country’s electricity through renewable sources of energy by 2021. By 2025, the target is for 12% of all electricity generated in

Myanmar to be renewable.

Electricity rates have increased in 2019, the first in 5 years. This increase was welcomed by energy sector investors. Demand for solar panels increased since the hike in Sept 2019.

Among ASEAN naons, Myanmar has one of the highest growth rates at 6.45% GDP rate in 2019.

As of 2019, Myanmar is producing over 5,600 megawas of electricity from state owned and private owned power plants across the country, with three addional power projects to assist the country’s need for reliable energy.

Myanmar has launched its first commercial solar plant in June 2019. Known as the Minbu Solar Power Plant, the 836-acre power generator is now ASEAN’s largest solar power plant.

SEMINAR &TECHNOLOGYSYMPOSIUM

The GREENPOWER MYANMAR 2020 SEMINAR & TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM is part of the Expo’s annual discourse in which industry professionals can discuss and engage in the latest concerns shaping Myanmar’s solar and renewable energy industry.

Demand for solar energy is projected to rise since the new electric tariff rates were introduced in 2019. This year’s symposium covers the purchasing, logiscal, maintenance, as well as disposal management of solar energy. From solar panels to energy farms, can Myanmar sustain its need for more power while being able to manage the costs of maintenance?
