It’s a time when we can acknowledge the long and rich history of Aboriginal people in this area. For those that are new to the area or those that are unaware, the Hunter Valley has a number of significant sites, including to the north, Wingen Maid and Burning Mountain and to the south, Baiame Cave and Tiddalik the Frog. The stories and knowledge associated with these locations help us to connect spiritually and culturally to this country. This year’s theme Always Was, Always Will Be recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. MESSAGEPRINCIPAL’SWe are holding NAIDOC - National Aboriginal and Islanders Day of Celebration on Friday this week.

At Muswellbrook South Public School we are proud of such strong links to the first Australians right here in our backyards.

From all of us here, enjoy the school holidays. We’ll see you in a couple of weeks.

6 BLUE is a hive of learning since returning back from at home learning. We have been busy in Geography learning and researching about the recent Australian Bushfires.

6 BLUE have been lucky enough to have been heading down to KYELLOW and KRED weekly to complete some buddy reading and wellbeing lessons with them.

In mathematics we have been learning about chance and data. We tested the experiment to see if we talk to our dice if it would be more likely to roll the number of our choice. We spent a morning outside creating a fraction garden.

We have also been having some fun learning about building up our settings and characters in our writing lesson.

We are all ready for a holiday!

Commonwealth School Banking Update

School Banking is back!

School Banking at our school will recommence next term from 21 July and will be on Tuesdays.

For every deposit made at school, students will receive a silver Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for an exclusive School Banking reward item in recognition of their regular savings habits.

School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Contribution of $5 for every 10 deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution which is based on the number of students who made at least one School Banking deposit in the prior year.

If your child has lost their book, please contact your School Banking Co-ordinator for a replacement or visit any Commbank Branch.

If you would like to know more about School Banking, please ask for a 2020 SchoolBanking program information pack from the school office or visit www.commbank.com.au/schoolbanking

Regular school attendance will help your child to succeed later in life. Attending school every day makes learning easier for your child and helps build and maintain friendships with other children. If your child misses learning the basic skills in the early years of school, they may develop learning problems in later years.

Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children.
