Nicole Kidman mimed her singing in the film, as did her band. See at the bottom of this page for some illustrative stills.

The film's DVD release provides a music cue sheet for the film:

Composer Kevin Peek:

The press kit for the film provided this bio for composer Kevin Peek, which took his story up to the time of the film's release:

After receiving a classical music education in Adelaide, Kevin Peek went to the United Kingdom to pursue his musical studies. There he gained diplomas from both the Royal Academy of Music and the Trinity College of music and became one of the most sought after session guitarists in Europe.

Manfred Mann, Tom Jones, Olivia Newton-John, Mary Hopkins, Shirley Bassey and Mel Torme are among the artists with whom he has recorded. As a member of the successful English classical/rock group Sky, Kevin composed and arranged "Toccata" and "Sahara" which topped the charts. In addition, he made his name as a solo classical guitarist on the U.K. concert circuit.More recently, Kevin has turned to composition. His film and television credits include: Animal Olympics (BBC), Tales of the Unexpected (Anglia), The Long Good Friday (in association with Francis Monkman), and Windrider (in association with Trevor Spencer). The attraction for Kevin on Windrider was the producer's interest in involving him at an early stage, "Trevor and I were consulted from the beginning and that enabled us to know just what the producer/director wanted from the start". Being briefed in such a way meant that performance and vocal tracks could be written and laid down prior to the commencement of principal photography. The other aspect that appealed to Kevin was the wide range of musical styles called for, "In writing both the underscoring and the performance numbers, I found I was able to employ a variety of styles from rock to classical to country. I was also able to work with both conventional instrumentation and electronic instrumentation".

Kevin Peek has a wiki here, and for more on Peek in later unhappy bankrupt life, and death in 2013, see the bottom of this pdf.

Trevor Spencer:

Kevin Peek shared compositional duties on the songs for the filmwith Trevor Spencer. There is a brief CV of Spencer at Musicminder, here.

This is effectively the same as Spencer's wiki entry here, though the wiki has more information and a few handy links offering more information about Spencer and his partnership with AlanTarney.

Born, Adelaide, South Australia 1947. An Australian songwriter, record producer and drummer.

Trevor was born in Adelaide, Australia. He studied drums and percussion from the age of 10. By the age of 14, he was playing professionally in bands in Adelaide and Melbourne.

Trevor was known in Adelaide as a member of "The James Taylor Move" during the sixties.

In 1969 he moved to Ham in England and after forming his first band Quartet he became a studio drummer for many top acts such as Cliff Richard and Olivia Newton John. During the 70's, he was a house songwriter for ATV Music London. In 1976 he was one half of Tarney-Spencer Band along with Alan Tarney.

They signed a 10-album deal with A & M Records, but met with little success and after three album releases, the group disbanded and discontinued their contract with agreement by the record company.

He then moved into record production and worked for many major labels as a

One record, a 45, came from the recording sessions for the film, though it did no business on the charts. "Young Days" is also featured on the Umbrella DVD release, albeit in a battered widescreen music video format:

Kevin Peek's Later Life:

Perth journalist Rebecca Le May wrote a story about Kevin Peek, Small funeral for disgraced Sky guitarist Kevin Peek, for Perth Now, 18th February 2013, available online at time of writing here.

Friends of Sky guitarist Kevin Peek are sad his musical accomplishments have been overshadowed by dodgy business deals that haunted him until his dying day.Peek was laid to rest in a low-key funeral service on Friday after succumbing to skin cancer that spread to his brain.Soundbyte Studios director Julian Douglas-Smith, who worked as a sound engineer for Peek from the late 1980s to the early 1990s, attended the funeral home service with family members and a small group of other mourners.Peek died last Monday at age 66 after spending his final three weeks in a hospice. In his last moments, Peek's trial for an alleged $8 million fraud was discontinued because of his ill health.

Page 17: Music by Kevin Peek (Boyd Wilson/Amanda Curtin) 'Do You … · 2017-05-25 · Manfred Mann, Tom Jones, Olivia Newton-John, Mary Hopkins, Shirley Bassey and Mel Torme are among the

"There wasn't going to be a funeral ... Kevin didn't actually want anything but they couldn't bear the thought of letting him go without something,'' Mr Douglas-Smith said.Peek, a resident of Serpentine, was jailed in 1994 for fraud in relation to Tracks Studio in West Perth, where Mr Douglas-Smith worked with him creating music for advertising."It's sad that his musical genius has been overshadowed by his dodgy business dealings,'' Mr Douglas-Smith said."He was certainly up to his neck in it again before he died, because the charges were pretty serious."But he had a really illustrious musical career, not just with Sky but as a session guitarist with other bands, specifically Cliff Richard.''Peek was an intensely private man but also the "king of the one-liner'', who would use humour as a deflection when challenged."My memories of Kevin were just as a big, loveable laughable guy but he was this enigma - there was this barrier that you couldn't get past at a certain point,'' Mr Douglas-Smith said."Laughter was his best defence. That's how he kept the world out.''Peek loved to do deals, he said, but it all went wrong. He had crammed a lot into his life, squeezing "132 years'' into his 66 years, often staying up 24 hours at a stretch. He wrote music for children's TV shows produced by the now-defunct Baron Entertainment, Singapore Airlines' famous "Singapore Girl'' jingle and the West Coast Eagles theme song.In his early days, Peek and fellow Adelaide-born musos Trevor Spencer, Alan Tarney and Terry Britten formed the group Quatro and tried to make it big in the UK, but it didn't work out.Tarney and Spencer wound up as a rhythm-section-for-hire, playing with Cliff Richard and Leo Sayer, while Britten went on to write many of Tina Turner's greatest hits."Alan Tarney credits Kevin with giving him the balls to go to London and try it on,'' Mr Douglas-Smith said."He was afraid of nothing. That was probably the best and worst thing about him.''Mr Douglas-Smith said Peek gave many people a break in a difficult business. While Twitter is awash with similar tributes, there are also complaints and disparaging remarks from those he defrauded.
