Helpful Tools!

• The first tool that I really liked was the Kodak Gallery editing and imaging tool. I am the kind of person who takes pictures and they live on my camera, no lie! Now I can make albums and photo books adding background and text. I had so much fun with these projects and learned so much! I now have a photo book of my brother’s wedding. Great memories!

Tool #2 “Animoto”

• I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Animoto! It was easy and fun to create a slideshow video of my family and I thought of a million ideas to use it in the classroom. How fun would it be to use to get kids psyched about upcoming school events??? I think it would be awesome. The website walked you through what to do to create a basic video slideshow. You can add backgrounds and music, I know if I had fun that the kids would have fun using it. It would be very easy to teach them how to navigate the sight. I think I want to add the link to my webpage. Look I am finished the class and still thinking of ways to use it in the classroom. This is exciting stuff!!

Tool #3 “YOUTUBE”

• I never thought I would have a video posted to “youtube” and now I do. I always wondered how people did it. I knew it couldn’t be to hard because there are so many videos, but I can’t believe I did it! I even used my new iPhone to help with some of these projects. I can’t believe how much I have learned about technology in these two classes. Now the key is to keep applying it so I don’t lose it!

The “NOT SO HELPFUL” Tool

• I have to admit the “voice thread” project was the most difficult by far. I just didn’t understand what to do. It took me a long time to figure out how to pull it all together. I used the phone option where you put in your phone number and it dials you, you answer and it records your voice that way. That was my only option because I don’t have a microphone on my computer nor do I have one that attaches. The only downfall with using the phone was that it only let you have three free trial voice recordings. After three recordings you have to sign up and pay money to continue to use that option. I really liked being able to use all the pictures that I have of my family. Most of them are of my favorite nephew (he is my only nephew). In the end I was able to overcome and create something to use as a presentation.

I have to say…..

• Again, I was nervous about this class when I saw what the assignments were but once I got started it was actually fun! I enjoyed what I was doing so much that my projects took a long time because I wanted them to be perfect. I was also excited to share them with my family! I learned how to do so many things with the amazing iPhone! I got one in February and I can’t believe all the things it can do. I took my video from my phone and it uploaded it right to “youtube.” It was amazing. I am not only learning things for my professional career but I am learning things that are useful in my day to day life!

Online Learning

• I love taking these classes. I really enjoy learning through the use of “Moodle.” Although, not really quite sure of how to explain moodle to someone, hmmmmm??? Anyway, I have hit roadblocks in this class and in the Building Online Learning Environments course, but it only pushes me to try new things and expand my horizons. I never thought I could learn like this. I always thought I needed a classroom setting with real live models in the classrooms. The tutorials on how to do these things are just as good as a face to face instructor. I like being able to work at my own pace and not having strict deadlines. You understand that we are working professional with families of our own. You let us take what we can do and apply it anyway that works for us, it is great!
