SOFTWARE AT THE CANADIAN ORTHOPAEDIC FOUNDATION

What I do Foundation operations manager at

Lutheran Life Communities Management consultant for CJW

Consulting & Services, Inc.Why I chose this topic

My staff, CJW, and its clients can benefit enormously from the use of the HPT Model.

Page 3: Muffett-Larry-830

Why I chose it I provided software training for 9 years at CJW and at

times walked away feeling that the training, while useful, did not go far enough. Having been exposed to human performance technology (HPT) in my studies in the Clemson HRD program, I feel that this type of analysis can result in a better and more permanent solution to an identified problem. It also will benefit CJW to be exposed to a new, systematic and multi-layered approach to addressing client issues.

How it relates to my own development I will incorporate these concepts with my own staff and

continue to assist as CJW expands its use of this technology.

ISPI HPT Model was chosen to examine the performance gap Performance Analysis▪ Current state versus desired state

Cause Analysis▪ Consequences, incentives and awards▪ Data and information▪ Resources, tools and environmental support▪ Individual capacity▪ Motives and expectations▪ Skills and knowledge

Page 6: Muffett-Larry-830

Selection of performance interventions Material/tools Relevant guides Financial and other incentives Necessary knowledge▪ Formal training▪ Regular in-service training

The purpose of this exercise was twofold. It was an opportunity to provide CANORTH with

a more comprehensive solution to their problem through a systematic analysis of where they are now, how they got there, and how do they get to where they want to go.

It was, at the same time, an opportunity to present the HPT model to CJW Consulting and Services. ▪ I believe that CJW can expand its menu of services by

offering performance improvement consulting rather than just providing training. I hope to expand their ways of working with clients in a very competitive marketplace.
