Collection for Filipino Families
Students wore mufti last Friday and paid a gold coin to do so. This money raising
event was to support the families of our Filipino community in their country which
was recently devastated by a natural disaster.
A total of $755.55 was raised and we will be sending the bucket brigade around at
assembly in the hope of reaching $1000.00. Thank you all for you support.
Family Portraits 2014
We have secured a great family portrait pack for 13 & 14 September 2014. When booking a portrait you will pay
$20.00 and once these are developed, you will receive a 10x8 photograph. A package of the same portrait in
various sizes (5 photographs in total) will cost $25.00. You can have any number of family portraits taken ie
parents and children, parents only, children only, grandparents etc but the booking will cost $20.00. Photographs
make great gifts for family and friends and will be back in time to make the overseas mailing date for Christmas.
Keep an eye on next years newsletters for booking form. Tell your family and friends-this offer is not exclusive
to Mount Druitt PS but will benefit our students as the $20.00 for each booking remains with the school.
Volunteers Morning Tea
The staff welcomes helpers and volunteers to a morning tea to celebrate
another wonderful year of teamwork.
This event is scheduled for Thursday 5 December 2013 from 11.00am-12
noon in the school Library. Please see Mrs Cameron if you have not received
an invitation by 15 November 2013.
Christmas Stall
Due to popular student request after Mothers Day and Fathers Day stalls the P&C will
hold a Christmas Stall (for students only) on Friday 6 December and Monday 9 December
2013. Students will be able to buy reasonably priced gifts for their family and friends
whilst stocks last! Helpers are required on the day please!
A huge thank you to all our wonderful parents who have volunteered throughout
the year with our many stalls, BBQ’s, in classrooms, helping in the reading
room every morning, opening the uniform shop, sharing great ideas and working
extremely hard for the students of Mount Druitt Public School!

Free dental clinic returns to Bidwill for needy Centrelink families
STACY THOMAS MT DRUITT-ST MARYS STANDARD NOVEMBER 15, 2013 12:15AM
For two days, Buddhist charity Tzu Chi Foundation with support from Bidwill Uniting and Blacktown Youth
College will transform the community hall into a surgery.
There will be seven dental chairs, attended by qualified volunteer dentists and dental assistants on Saturday
and Sunday, December 14 and 15.
Low income families are targeted, especially single parents and refugees.
Bidwill Uniting team leader John Dacey said residents would be offered "bread and butter general dentistry"
aimed at relieving pain and prevention of foreseeable oral infections.
"Dietary and oral hygiene instructions and preventive dentistry will also be part of the clinic," he said.
July's dental clinic was attended by more than 100 residents. The 22 dentists and 35 dental students and dental
auxiliaries performed 85 examinations, 37 scale and clean, 36 radiographs, 78 restorations and 49 extractions.
If the foundation was to charge for these visits, it would have collected more than $30,000.
"With low incomes, dental care is a constant problem for residents of 2770," Mr Dacey said.
"The free clinic will provide an invaluable service to people who can't afford dental care."
Residents on Centrelink payments who want to attend the December clinic, can call Mr Dacey on 9835 2970 or
0409 747 412.
