March 3• EMAC IATED = abnormally thin or weak, esp.

because of illness or a lack of food. Synonyms thin, bony, gaunt, skeletal

March 4• MALNUTRITION = lack of proper nutrition,

caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of the right things. With so much emphasis on cotton there was not enough land for growing food. Also, Mr. Grainger wanted them to buy their food at the Wallace store.

• EPISODE = an event or a group of events occurring as smaller part of a larger sequence; an incident or period considered in isolation.
