Welcome Families
About Me I grew up in Piscataway, NJ. I attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD
where I received a degree in Psychology. I received my Masters in Leadership in Teaching from the
College of Notre Dame in Baltimore, MD. Now called Notre Dame of Maryland University.
I taught fifth grade for three years in Baltimore City. I moved to Delaware about 10 years ago. This is my 10th year teaching Kindergarten and I love it. I have a twelve year old daughter in eighth grade named
Alisiya and a five year old daughter named Chloe.

Class Rules Keep your hands to yourself Use nice words Take turns and share Raise your hand during lesson Listen to the teacher Walk inside school building Use inside voices inside
Caterpillar Party Every tenth body part the class earns, we will
have a caterpillar party. The class will vote on the theme of the party. (cupcake party, movie and popcorn, costume party, etc. ) The class earns a body part when: No one has a red day. (Two body parts when
everyone is on green.) Special recognition
Field Trip Parents must fill out a volunteer form to
chaperone any field trips. Chaperones are on a first come basis. Please send in $10 by Sept. 15th to cover all
the field trips for the year.
Promotion Requirements
Obtain a 76% or better on the Wonders Reading Series End of the Year test
Name ALL upper/lower case letters
Make letter/sound correspondence for ALL letters.
Identify 31/40 sight words
Promotion Requirements cont.Mathematics Obtain a 76% on EnVisions End of the Year
Math test Count to 25. Write numbers 0-20.
Homework Homework will be sent home Monday - Thursday. Math homework will usually be a leveled practice
worksheet based on what was taught in class on that particular day.
All little readers sent home are considered homework. Parents need to sign all homework. Any class work not finished turns into homework.
Daily Practice Letter recognition Number recognition Counting Writing sentences Name writing (only
1st letter uppercase) Read together for at
least 15 minutes
Please remember Check folders every night Send in a healthy snack every day Show and Tell is on Fridays or last school day of
that week. Show and Tell items will be based on the skills we are working on. Once a month students will be able to have a free choice show and tell.
Please send in a small shoe box to hold North Star tickets.
