Equipotential bonding
Equipotential bonding on mobile systems ensures that in case of a fault, no contact volt-ages occur.
You can implement equipotential bonding as follows:
• Establish high-frequency equipotential bonding via the vehicle frame (vehicle GND).
• Provide metal-to-metal contact over a large surface area.
• Use high-frequency equipotential bonding cables with a minimum cross section of10 mm2.
• Use only gray or black cables for equipotential bonding.
• TIP Never use a yellow/green lead for the equipotential bonding cable as this coloris reserved for PE.
The following illustration shows an example of a mobile system that uses MOVITRANS®
for contactless energy transfer and measures for equipotential bonding:
Observe the following installation instructions:
• Confirm the insulating strength of the equipment and the effectiveness of the equipo-tential bonding within the context of cyclical system checks.
• A possible potential transfer to mobile components via non-SEW equipment must beruled out during planning and operation.

ESD protection To ensure optimum protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD), you have to takemeasures for dissipating the charges.
You can implement charge dissipation as follows:
• With conductive combs, brushes, springs, or sliders
• With conductive track rollers or wheels
• With conductive floor coverings or work areas
• It is permitted to temporarily ground the vehicle frame during standstill if certainproduction steps make this necessary.
The following illustration shows an example of a mobile system that uses MOVITRANS®
for contactless energy transfer and measures for ESD protection:
• For metallic floor rails, high-frequency equipotential bonding must be implementedbetween the rails at least at the start and end of the track. For long tracks, implementequipotential bonding at least every 5 m. You can use the line cable for this purpose, for example (min. cable cross section 10 mm2). Pay special attention to the distancebetween the equipotential bonding cable and the line cable.

6 Startup stepsStartup
6.2 Startup stepsProceed as follows for startup:
1. Make sure that compensation is made for the line cable and that the current supplyis correct. The TPS stationary converter is operating.
2. Make sure that the cable outputs of the THM pick-ups connected to X21/X22 or X31/X32 of the TPM12B mobile converter are always aligned in the same way.
3. Make sure that the load (for example an SEW frequency inverter with motor) is con-nected correctly to the TPM12B mobile converter.
4. Select the enable mode of the output voltage.
(X11:B6 = "0" for delayed enable, X11:B6 = "1" for instantaneous enable)
5. Set a "1" signal at binary input "Enable" (X11:B5 = "1"); an output voltage ofDC 500 V is now available at X11:A1/A2. Irrespective of the DC 500 V output volt-age, the DC 24 V output voltage of the TPM12B mobile converter is available whenthe power supply is connected.
6. When the output voltage is available at X11:A1/A2, the binary output "500 V OK" willswitch from "0" signal to "1" signal. This signal can be used, for example, as an en-able signal by the connected load.
