The goal of the volunteer organization is to add flowering plants to the FairviewPark bike path and Palmer Post Office gardens. 2016 will be the fifth year sinceapproval by the Supervisors. A sad note is that some plants have not flourished atthe Fairview Park garden because of the shade created by the trees and the lack ofrain that got to the plants.
Excitement does exist, however. We have a huge number of cleome, Russian iris, zinnia, and day lily seeds that are going to be planted this spring. The picture showshasta plants. They are spending the winter in one of Dave’s gardens. While shoppingat Lowe’s in November the plants were on the tall rack by the entrance door. Alwaysinterested in plants and seeing that they were $0.25 a piece, I couldn’t resist. Pulledthe rack to the courtesy desk and said I wanted all of them even before knowing howmany there were. There were 94. They will be planted in March as soon as theground thaws.
Volunteers to do occasional weeding are welcome. Community service hours area possibility.
