sIDE-GRIP sHEET PILER

Four shaft vibra construction, directional hitting and heavy duty design makes the SPH-80 an efficient sheet piler.

Directional hitting reduces ground vibration to a lower level than in the same size conventional vibratory driver.

Needed oil flow of 240 liters/min at 280 bar and weight of 2900 kg requires a 35 t excavator. SPH-80 can be installed even 25 ton excavator with power pack (see the page 12).

From 25 to 40 ton

Movax side-Grip vibratory hammer is a very productive excavator mounted pile driver and extractor. The same unit can handle, pitch and drive the sheet piles. It is capable to accomplish the whole pile driving process without need of manual handling of the piles or assisting machinery.

The Side-Grip combined with the excavator is an effective solution for pile driving on most sites from open areas to confined spaces or limited headroom. An advanced Auto C control system makes the operating accurate and easier. Movax stands for high productivity, safety and low operating costs.

From 25 to 40 ton

SP-70 F4

Movax SP-70 F4 has long amplitude and strong vibra force generated by four big eccentric weights. SP-70 F4 is one of the strongest in class of excava-tor mounted pile drivers.

This big Movax sheet piler is designed for conditions where strong driving or extraction force is needed. SP-70 F4 utilises all the power of a big 33-40 ton excavator or on a 25 ton excavator equipped with a Power-Pack. SP-70 F4 is equipped with oil pump lubrication for all bearings which ensures longer working periods also at tough ground conditions.

Movax SP-70 F4 is at its best in demanding projects such as bigger infra sites where strong driving or extraction force is needed.

The design of sheet piler SP-E makes it suitable for wheel excavators. Vibra house of SP-E is lighter compared to other models. This increases the stability of excavator. Also the demanded hydraulic power is within the usual limits of the middle-class excavators.

Side-grip technic demands a precise control of the driving movements. This can be reached by using the automatic operating device.

SP-F piler is a two shaft, vibratory based sheet piler which has a proven vibra technology with a stronger built structure. Robust desing and suitability to under 30 ton excavator makes this model popular.

F -model´s durability is based on strenghtened vibra housing and U-frame desing. Lubrication of the vibra-shaft´s bearings is ensured by oil-pump.

Compared to the E-model SP-F can handle bigger sheet piles due to its broader and stronger jaw construction.

Modular Movax SG-series piler comes in three versions; - SG-25 for backhoes, - SG-30 for 13-16 ton excavators and - SG-40 for 17-21 ton excavators.

These units are replacing the older units SP-30, SP-40E and SP-40W.

Easy changing of the pile clamps. The side-grip clamps can be quickly changed on the connection surface enabling easy swap from sheet piles or H-beams to round steel or timber piles. Biggest diameter of tubular pile is 457 mm. Adjustable gripping force ensures a firm and safe grip without damaging the pile.

Light weight (1200kg) design makes handling of this unit easier also with wheel excavators, rail-road vehicles and backhoes.

High quality piston motor and other hydraulic components are made to work under high pressu-re (Technical data/”Pressure settings”).

Smart design. Reliability, safety and user-friend-liness are the basis of the design. Hydraulic valves are located to safe yet accessible place under the tilt plate. Amount of hydraulic hoses are minimi-sed and clamping cylinders are protected.

Wide range of applications. Driven tubular piles, casings, wood piles and stone columns are some examples of applications for Movax Tube Driver. The side gripping vibro driver has found its way to various site environments including rail, marine and general construction.

speed up piling works with side-Grip Movax. Tube Driver utilises the side grip clamps to lift and rotate the pile to driving location. Secure grip keeps the tube in control during driving and AutoC control system enables fast and accurate piling work.

Movax Tube Driver has been also succesfully used as assisting machine before finishing with a drop hammer or a bigger vibro. Superior handling added with a capability to pre-drive the pile increases productivity.

From 25 to 40 ton


Steel tubes used for foundation of noise walls and electric poles. SP-40W and Terex 1604 KZW

These models are based on the technology of SP-E two-shaft vibratory piler. Tube driver differs from sheet piler in the design of the vibra house and the side grip which is specially shaped for the tubular piles. Basic diameter is 630 mm which can be reduced using additional reducers.

Gripping force can be adjusted for an optimal grip without damaging the pile or the wooden pole.


SP-50WSP-60W

From 18 to 30 ton

SPH-80W is a tube driver based on the technology of SPH-80 sheet piler. Its side grip is specially shaped for gripping tubular piles.

SPH-80W can pick, lift, locate, drive and extract tubes up to 630 mm in diameter. With an additional top hitter on the bottom jaw of the tube driver also the very last meter of the pile can be driven.

Picture on the left: tubes for supporting a pipeline on the sea shore are driven by SPH-80W. Also the tube holders on the top of the piles are lifted with same Movax using the bottom jaw.

8 Productivity through Innovation

Excavator operator has a challenging job to drive a pile vertically by keeping the pile on the linear movement. This requires the control of three different movements (main boom, stick boom and bucket cylinder) simultaneously. At the same time the angle of the pile is very difficult to see from the cabin of the excavator as a side view of the pile cannot be directly seen.

Movax automatic operating device is developed to solve this problem. The main principle is that the operator controls one movement and automatic steering system takes care of the two remaining movements. This results to a linear movement of the pile.

Main boom, Stick boom and Movax angles are measured by sensors.

Display unit recognises that the operator is controlling one movement (Main boom), and takes care of the two others (Stick and Movax). This is done by controlling the proportional valves.

Valves of the automatic control the main valves of the excavator.

Cylinder movements are controlled by main valves.

Operator controlsone movement(e.g. Main boom).

The pile is driven or extracted straight in vertical direction or in any other angle.

Automatic system calculatesthe position of the pile(distance and angle).

How to handle and drive/extract sheet piles with Movax?

1. Pick the sheet pile by using ...

Operating with Movax is challenging itself –not to mention when aiming to achieve the best performance with it and at the same time avoid all problems. As Movax is a unique machine, every operator has to be well trained in its use.

When installing Movax, service engineers provide customer´s operator with the required operator training. It is also possible to

organise operator- or any other extra training for example in Unisto Oy´s premises in Hämeenlinna, Finland. The duration of such training is 3-5 days, depending on the program and customer´s needs, and includes both technical and practical training. Power-pack provides extra oil flow for the excavator and thus allows the excavator to be used with a bigger Movax model than without it. For example, under 30 ton excavatorcan be suitable for SPH 80 withPower-pack.

Standard tube clamps sizes are available in diameters 60 mm, 90 mm, 115 mm, 140 mm, 170 mm, 190 mm and 220 mm.

Basic tube clamp size (also the biggest) is dia 220 mm.

Other sizes are combinations of the basic clamp (220 mm) and a reducing part 220-190, 220-170, 220-140, 220-115, 220-90 or 220-60.

Compacting plate enables the Movax to be used as a deep compactor.

Practical solution for deep compacting, for example slopes.

Adapter plate is needed for connecting the Movax Side-Grip to different excavators. Adapters are taylored for different pin connectors and quick couplers.

Efficient auguring with a standard excavator

Movax Soil Drills are excavator mounted auger drive attachments for cast in-situ piling and other earth drilling works. A technology behind the efficiency is a hydraulically operated telescopic kelly bar with two extendable sections on TAD-30 and one longer extension on TAD-30S.

Movax TAD works well in confined spaces still good on reaching over obstacles. Telescopic design keeps the machine low and allows working on sites with limited headroom without compromising on drilling depth.
