Ecient and high-performingSIME Darby Auto Performance(SDAP), the importer of Porschevehicles in Malaysia, launched theimpressive new Cayenne modelslast year.

The new Cayenne models havesince set the standards in the SUVsegment with a sharper design,boosted efficiency and extensiveset of standard features, which arethe key characteristics of the newPorsche Cayenne.

Besides offering five seats andextensive high-end features, thenew Cayenne is the sports caramong the sport utility vehicles(SUVs) and primarily offers a lot ofroom for ample driving fun.

The new range of Cayennemodels also deliver more powerand higher torque with lower fuelconsumption than its directpredecessors and upgraded andoptimised engines.

The engine used in the new basemodel Cayenne is the familiar 3.6-litre V6 naturally aspirated engine,delivering 300hp.

It accelerates the Cayenne from0kph to 100kph in 7.7 seconds and7.6 seconds with the optional SportChrono package, which is 0.2seconds faster than before.

Tiptronic S transmission, theCayenne S accelerates from 0kphto 100kph in just 5.5 seconds(5.4 seconds with the optionalSport Chrono package), which is0.4 seconds faster than theprevious Cayenne S. The vehiclestop speed is 259kph.

The diesel versions of theCayenne, on the other hand,combine sportiness with evenbetter fuel efficiency.

The three-litre V6 engine in theCayenne Diesel produces 262hp at4,000rpm and has a fuelconsumption of 6.6-litre/100kmto 6.8-litre/100km.

The car can accelerate from0kph to 100kph in 7.3 seconds(7.2 seconds with the optionalSport Chrono package), and itstop speed is 221kph.

The base price of the newCayenne and Cayenne Diesel startsfrom RM640,000 and the Cayenne Sand Cayenne S Diesel are fromRM760,000 and RM780,000respectively.

Volvo Cars have a proud legacy of putting emphasis on the safety of drivers.

Proud design heritage

SCANDINAVIAN design focuses ondelivering minimalist and highlyfunctional products inspired bynature; the core tenets ofScandinavian living.

In Sweden, the preservation ofthis movement started in 1845 withthe establishment of the SwedishSociety of Industrial Design andhas since been emulated by mostSwedish companies, includingVolvo Cars.

Volvos Side Impact ProtectionSystem (SIPS) in the Volvo XC60and V40 is a good example of howsafety functions are assimilatedinto its minimalist design.

In the event of a side collision,the system absorbs and transfersforce through a series of points.The only hint of this system is aSIPS stamp on the lower part of theB-pillar.

The Whiplash Protection System(WHIPS) consist of an energyabsorption mechanism integratedinto the ergonomically designedseats. WHIPS reduces short- andlong-term whiplash injuries as aresult of rear-end collisions.

As with all Volvos, the XC60 andV40 comes with an assortment ofstandard safety features, such asdual-stage driver and front

passenger airbags, SIPS airbags,and inflatable curtains, all of whichoffer the best protection to the carsoccupants at all times.

These passive safety systemscomplement the active safetytechnologies available in the VolvoXC60 and V40.

The most notable, City Safety, is astandard on all new Volvo cars.City Safety is an autonomous

braking system that helps to avoidcollisions if the relative speedbetween the two vehicles is up to50kph. At higher speeds, thesystem helps to reduce the impactof the collision.

The enhanced, radar-based BlindSpot Information System (BLIS)informs the driver about vehiclesin the blind spots on both sides ofthe car and also monitors and

alerts the driver to rapidlyapproaching vehicles up to 70 mbehind the car.

The same radar is used for CrossTraffic Alert (CTA) which alerts thedriver of crossing traffic from thesides when reversing out of aparking space.

CTA is especially helpful in tightand crowded areas where the sideview might be limited due toinfrastructure, vegetation or otherparked cars.

All-in-all, the safety systemspresent in a Volvo gives assuranceto the driver and occupants thatthe car is made with safety as theutmost priority.

While safety holds precedence,the cabin design, materials usedand systems put in place alsoensure a pleasant experience forthe drive and occupants.
