SHEEP (1006) Auctioneer: Nick Young MILK LAMBS (240) Overall average 160p per kilo The Hailsham trade is in line with the national trade which we are sad to report
remains moderate. The best quality as always at Hailsham really rang the bell in particular for the big
Texels from N Reader taken by Tony Fulk the most senior and master butcher from
Pirbright. Quality is king, please ensure your lambs are best meated and properly
presented if they are not absolutely perfect then they are better sold in the store
section which continues to remain oblivious to the downward national finished price. Leading price per head:- N Reader £93, £85, £79, £70, BJ Hicks £92.50, £88.50,
Mrs PM Bignell £83.50, £75.50, £70.50, Downsview Sheep £80, FG Coles £80, £77,
Mrs AM Eales £75, JJ Seller & Partners £74, Trinidad Investments £73.50, Dunstars

Inaugural charity run for Chailey’s new tractor club The recently established Chailey Classic and Vintage Tractor Club held its first
Annual Charity tractor run last Saturday, 23rd September, in support of St Peter and St James Hospice, the Club’s nominated charity.
Starting from the Five Bells in Chailey, the convoy of as many as 25 tractors, consisting of a huge variety of makes and models complete with traffic marshals,
passed through Plumpton and Newick stopping at a number of pubs on the way to
collect for the Hospice. Morris dancers from spirimawgus joined the tractors and danced at the Half Moon, Fountain and the Plough before moving on to the Sloop and
Royal Oak at Newick, finally returning back to the Five Bells for an evening of food, music and entertainment. Beer was donated by local breweries and the pub cooked a lamb spit-roast donated by a local farmer, accompanied by a wide selection of home-made relishes contributed by another prominent member. Live music was provided
without cost by well known local band Rapscallion. “Thank you to all of the pubs who hosted us and helped promote the event and of
course to all those who came along with their tractors”. Howard Venters.
