On July 20, 2013, thousands of courageous men and women will power walk a marathon through the streets of New York City, in the middle of the night, wearing decorated bras, in support of breast cancer initiatives.
This mega event, known around the world as “The MoonWalk,” is the signature fundraising platform of the globally recognized charity Walk the Walk.
Think big huge iconic “wow” events -- New Year’s Eve in Times Square, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Tree Lighting at Rockefeller Center....

Nina’s Amazing Journey
In 1996, Nina Barough had a dream of Power Walking the New York City marathon in a bra to raise money for breast cancer causes. She gathered a group of 13 people to join her and Walk the Walk was born.
At that time her life was completely untouched by breast cancer, yet she raised money that year in support of charities committed to research and treatment of the disease. Just a few months after Nina completed that first marathon walk, fate stepped in and she was diagnosed with an aggressive case of breast cancer.
The success of this first walk in New York was the small beginning of what was to become a multi million dollar charity and also Walk the Walk’s own challenge: The MoonWalk.
15 years later, The MoonWalk has become an iconic challenge in London, Scotland and Iceland with over 300,000 participants having raised over $126,000,000 to benefit local breast cancer causes. His Royal Highness Prince Charles is the Patron of the charity, and notable celebrities like Paul and Stella McCartney and Pierce Brosnan are strong supporters.
Our goal for The MoonWalk New York City 2013 is to raise money to make sure everyone with breast cancer gets the care they need - no matter what. A grant will be made by Walk the Walk America to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to help support their Breast Examination Center in Harlem.
