Workshop on ‘Use of Computers in School Education’ for School Teachers on January 29, 2015
As a part of the outreach strategic imperative of KCT Business School, a one-day workshop was
organized by the Centre for Operations on ‘Use of Computers in School Education’ on January 29,
2015 for Government School Teachers. The objective of the workshop was to impart computer skills
to middle-level and higher secondary school teachers and to enable them to use Internet tools in their
day-to-day teaching-learning process.
Dr.V.R.Nedunchezhian, Professor, KCTBS welcomed the participants and requested them to actively
participate and get the full benefit of the program. The program was structured with three skill
sessions that included topics on E-mail ID creation, Messaging, Social Media, YouTube & Google
search, Power-point presentation, MS Excel, Students data uploading, and documentation in TN Govt.
website. Hands-on training using computers were given to the participants in the MCA Computer
Laboratory, KCT
Sessions on Creation of E-mail ID, Face Book, and Messaging were shown on-line, these sessions were
facilitated by Ms. T. A. Sarasvathi and Ms. S. Lakshmi, Assistant Professors, KCTBS. A live demo was
made on Google Search, YouTube and Social Media Networking. The presentation on creation of
PowerPoint and use of Excel in school education was facilitated by Dr. S. Jaisankar, Associate
Professor. Computer based exercises were solved by the participants to get a hands-on experience.
The sessions were very interactive and feedback received from the participants was very good and
useful. 48 teachers from various schools in and around Coimbatore attended the program. Dr. S.
Jaisankar, Associate Professor, Centre of Operation, coordinated the program.

Marketing training for Frontline staffs of India Post on January 30,
2015
KCT Business School conducted training on marketing skills for 286 employees of Department of Post,
Government of India as a part of Project Arrow. The project aims at creating a conducive and friendly
work environment both for the staff and the customers visiting the Post Offices, providing all IT
enabled services through secure connectivity, improving the service quality levels in the core business
areas.
KCT Business School equips the employees of India Post through soft skill training for better customer
services. The training series is being conducted in six batches. The training for the first batch of postal
employees was conducted on January 30, 2015. The training was conducted with two different
themes: “Managing the services” and “Managing the customers”. A variety of interactive training
methods were used in all the sessions, to enhance the learning.

Dr. Vijila Kennedy has successfully completed a MOOC on “GSE1x: Unlocking the Immunity to
Change: A new approach to Personal Improvement” a course of study offered by HarvardX, an
online learning initiative of Harvard University through edX.
Deepa Manickam has successfully completed a MOOC on “Unethical decision making in
Organization” from The University of Lausanne

Student Perspective of MBA Program on January 6, 2015
A student perspective, interactive discussion on curriculum, pedagogy, assessments, projects, student
support services, student engagement, outreach, career guidance and IT in academics, other academic
processes was held on January 6, 2015 with faculty of KCT Business School with Ms. Huldah Sheena.
Ms. Huldah, a MBA graduate from the Bentley University, USA made a base presentation and followed
by an hour long discussion.

Semester Reboot Camp on January 13 – 14, 2015
A two day Semester Reboot Camp was organized for the faculty of KCT Business School on January 13
& 14, 2015. The objective of the camp was to reaffirm the core values KCT BS, individual goals and to
plan on academic PEO’s, with emphasis on using technology and differential pedagogy. The camp
provided an opportunity for brainstorming of thoughts & ideas, which will be adopted in the ensuing
semester
Knowledge Sharing with Outside world
Dr.Kirupa Priyadarsini.M Associate Professor, served as a resource person for a guest lecture on
Emotional Intelligence at Sri Amman Institute of Management and Research on the January 9, 2015.
The session focused on how MBA students can improve their employability skills by being emotionally
intelligent. The competencies of EI developed by Goleman were discussed. Activities and exercises
pertaining to the different skills, induced students to be more proactive. Questions relating to, how to
handle friendships and relationships, how to use EI for networking better were among the discussions
post session

participated in a 3-day FDP on Panel Data and Time Series Econometrics from January 06-08,
2015 organized by Amrita School of Business, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.

Dr. P. Nalini, Assistant Professor, participated in FDP on Data Analysis for Business Modeling"
at Velalar College of Engineering and Technology, Erode on January 8, 2015.The program
covered various tools for research using SPSS like t-test,Z-test, regression ,correlation etc ,and
it has a wide coverage on using excel worksheet for various descriptive studies.

Semester reopens
The even semester for the academic year 2014-15 reopened for II MBA students of Batch 2013-15, IV
semester on January 19, 2015. Students will begin their semester long Corporate Project under the
tutelage of their respective guides.
Semester Recharge on January 21-22, 2015
Students of Batch 2014-16 began their II Semester on January 21, 2015 with a 2 day Recharge Camp.
The camp was hoisted to recap on the concepts learnt in the previous semester and strengthen the
KCT BS values amongst the students, to encourage them to set goals & targets for personal
development. The Recharge camp gave the students an opportunity to interact with two eminent
speakers; Mr.Krishna Entrepreneur, family business consultant and leadership coach and Mr. Rob
Meikle, Chief Information Officer, City of Toronto, Canada

Company Specific Training
On January 21, 2015, a company specific training was conducted for 28 students attending KPMG
interview.GD was conducted to improve their communication and confidence level and the centre of
Finance conducted conceptual training on the same day to assess their conceptual knowledge.
On January 21, 2015, company specific training on Group discussion followed by mock interview was
conducted for 20 students attending Career Net interview.
Training on Aptitude followed by essay writing and Interview Preparation Session was conducted on
January 27, 2015for about 30 students attending CUB campus hiring. All the training was coordinated
and conducted by Dr. Gokilavani R, Lead Trainer
Regular training is conducted for I MBA students on various aspects, to enable placement readiness.
62 hours Placement training - 42 hours on Aptitude training and the rest 20 hours on Group
discussion, Extempore and Interview handling.
