our canoe & kayak rental operation. We have 60

sites including standard electric and primitive

sites, group electric and primitive sites, and a

secluded remote site just a short hike into the

woods and nestled right on the beautiful Pigeon

River. We have a bathhouse with indoor hot

showers and restroom facilities. Our campsites

border the river & our on-site pond. Snacks, drinks,

ice, firewood, camping supplies, and souvenirs are

available for purchase in the camp store.

PaddlinG The PigeoN

WHAT TO KNOW: The Trading Post is located in Mongo, Indiana on

the scenic Pigeon River. We hold a fleet of over 200

Canoes & 100 Kayaks to host your biggest group

outing or your solo river run. We offer 6 Trips

spanning 26 miles of the river that runs through

13,000 acres of the natural Pigeon River Fish and

Wildlife area. The river is lazy, winding, & flat water

ranging in depth from one to five feet and a water

speed of 3 to 4 MPH. We are open 7 days a week

from April to October. Summer weekends are the

busiest at the TP, so be sure to reserve your spots

online as soon as possible!

WHAT TO EXPECT: FOR ALL TRIPS YOU WILL:

Stop in to the Trading Post office to check in with

us, sign our waiver, get a trip description from a

pro, and grab a life vest along with any essentials

you might need from our shop.

FOR EAST TRIPS:

We will load your boat & paddles, transport you

& your equipment to the launch site & assist you

in getting on the water. You paddle at your

leisure & end up back at the Trading Post.

FOR WEST TRIPS:

We will set up your pick-up time prior to

departure. We stage your canoe or kayak at our

riverside. You paddle at your leisure & we meet

you at your designated pick-up point to transport

you back to the Trading Post.
