Call to WorshipOne: O God! As we gather in worship now, let us join in the song of all creation!

This blue green planet spins in joy, and moment by moment, pink sunrises and orange sunsets are

wastefully spilled over some pale blue sky. The whole spectrum of light harmonizes in singing praiseto the Creator:

All: But your glory, O God, is still more than we have imagined!

One: From the menacing and murky colors of pollution seen in the rainbow reflection from an oil slick to the

dark greens and blacks of rainforests and the gentler pastels of meadowland and pasture.  The wholespectrum of light sings praise:

All: But your glory, O God, is still more than we have imagined!

One: From the red-stained shirt and every-color of camouflaged uniforms in times of unrest and war to the

endless blue of pacific island nations and the burnt umbers and yellow sand of desert nations. Thewhole spectrum of light sings praise:

All: But your glory, O God, is still more than we have imagined!

One: From the blacks and yellows of the beehive or the reds and browns of the anthill, to the diversity of

brown and pink in human skin. The whole spectrum of light sings praise:

All: But your glory, O God, is still more than we have imagined!

One: As we join together in unity to worship and adore you, Living God, our faces are radiant from your

glory. But reveal to us some new shade of your greatness, some bright tone of your grace, some subtle

aspect of your love that we have not yet imagined.

All: Amen.

Invocation—Rev. Elder Diane FisherSpirit of Life and Love, God of Many Names and Every Tribe, we call on you togather with us in this sacred space, to begin tonight the radical transformation thatwe will experience here together in the coming days. We anticipate that

transformation, we desire that transformation, and we long for that transformation. But, dear God, we are burdened. We are burdened by fear. We are burdened bydisagreement and anger. We all want the best, and yet we sometimes stronglydisagree about how to achieve that best end. And so, God, we call on you to uniteus once again. Restore our commitment not just to MCC, but to one another...toour community...to our family...to YOUR body, Christ. We love you, and we thankyou that you have instilled in us the message of your inclusive love for all who arein the margins of this world. May our ministry to those margins continue to beblessed, both in this place and around the world. Amen.

And made this desert live

You have turned my sorrow into joy

Your hand lifted me upI stand on higher ground

Your praise rose in my heartAnd made this valley sing

(Chorus)

Readings: Ephesians 3:20-21 and Jeremiah 17:7-8—Larry RodriguezNow to the One who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly farmore than all we can ask or imagine, to the One be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.

They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream.

It shall not fear when heat comes,and its leaves shall stay green;

in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit.

Sermon—Rev. Nancy Wilson

Sermon Response—Special Music Toronto—“Total Praise”

Invitation to Ritual—Rev. Elder Lillie Brock —Put it all in that basket, energy, anger, broken, and happy

Communion—Rev. Elder Darlene Gardner

Communion songs (led by Toronto Choir)Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

Give us this day our daily bread You said you would supply all my needs, according to your riches

I have but to ask and I shall receive To go from here and share this love you’ve given me

To show the ones who’re lost and help them find the way The way to truth and love, so they can be free

Oh God, we need your loveOh God, we need your peace

Oh God, we need your joy, so we can be freeGive us this day our daily bread

I Will Pledge This Song To You You are holy, You are holy, and my life is in Your hands

You are worthy, You are worthy. Take my life and all I am

Every dream I’ve known, Every heartache too, They have all been shared with you

All the times I’ve failed, been unkind to You,I have known your mercy too.

Chorus

Come Touch Our HeartsCome touch our hearts that we may know compassion

From failing embers build a blazing fireLove strong enough to overturn injustice,

To seek a live (life/alive) more gracious, come touch and bless our hearts

Come touch our souls that we may know and love you You quiet presence all our fears dispelCreate a space for spirit to grow in us,

Let life and beauty fill us, come touch and bless our souls

Come touch our minds and teach us how to reasonSet free our thoughts to wonder and to dream

Help us to open doors of understanding, To welcome truth and wisdom, come touch and bless our minds.

Prayer over the Gifts—Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson This prayer should bless the gifts given in the offering and the emotions lifted up in theritual.

Recessional—Ours the JourneyIn the midst of new dimensions, in the face of changing ways,

Who will lead the pilgrim peoples wandering in their separate ways?

ChorusGod of rainbow, fiery pillar, leading where the eagles soar,

We your people, ours the journey, now and ever, now and ever, now and evermore.

Through the flood of starving people, warring factions and despair,Who will lift the olive branches? Who will light the flame of care?

Chorus

Should the threats of dire predictions cause us to withdraw in fear,

May your blazing, guiding spirit still remind us you are here.

Chorus

Benediction—Sung by Toronto Choir

Mariachi Band plays just outside the worship space.
