Hi everyone, We hope you’ve all had a safe and enjoyable summer and are feeling settled into what promises to be a great year. The Mingle program will be active in Moncrieff for a couple of years. This year, being the first year, will involve some small scale community activities and learning about what you would like to see happening in your community. A key focus of the program is working closely with residents to deliver a program that is suited to the interests and needs of the community. We hope to establish a Moncrieff resident/community group during the early stage of the program. We’d love to hear from you if you’re keen to be involved or have any ideas for your community. We look forward to meeting you all soon. LDA Mingle team Welcome to the LDA Molonglo Valley Mingle newsletter! 87% of respondents are planning to live in Moncrieff for more than five years.

Community99% of respondents say that a sense of community is important to them.

62% of respondents say they enjoy entertaining for family and friends.

Safety

75% want future residents to say Moncrieff is a safe place to live.

Social mediaOver 80% have visited the Mingle Facebook page and use this as the primary way of finding out information on events.

As part of the survey, residents were invited to share some of the things they were most looking forward to while living in Moncrieff.

We were delighted to hear these responses and the following three received a prize!

‘Living in a modern, clean and well-planned community with plenty of opportunities to enjoy an excellent lifestyle via outdoor activities and social interactions.’ – Name withheld

‘Creating the “back in the day” neighbourhood. Knowing everyone on our street and having a safe, fun, supportive place for our kids to grow up’ – Kira Smith

‘Moncrieff residents are a tight knit community, looking out for one another. I’m looking forward to making friends and being part of that community’ – Lilian Iskander

ACCESS TO AMAROOEasier access to the Amaroo playing fields and schools will be a reality by the end of the year. A pedestrian bridge across Ginninderra Creek in Moncrieff East is due to start construction in June 2017. This bridge will link a series of paths between Moncrieff and Amaroo, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to travel safely between the two suburbs.

FUN AND FITNESS FOR THE MONCRIEFF COMMUNITYConstruction has now started on a fantastic new community recreation park in Moncrieff. With a variety of facilities and equipment to cater for a range of uses the new Moncrieff Community Recreation Park, at the corner of O’Keefe Avenue and Gussey Street, will be a destination for both fun and fitness. Construction on the park was officially launched by Minister Yvette Berry at a sod turning on Thursday 2 February 2017.

As well as having a learn-to-ride circuit, the park will include playground and barbecue areas with picnic tables, seating and shade, outdoor gym equipment, a multi-sport court to cater for sports such as basketball, futsal and volleyball, table tennis tables, volleyball and cricket nets, drinking fountain, bike racks and toilets. The recreation park is expected to be completed in late 2017.
