Activity: What Does It Communicate?

1. Observe facilitator communicating a safety message.

2. Focus on eye contact. Identify poor and good behaviors. Describe what behaviors communicate.

3. Identify behaviors, other than eye contact. Describe what behaviors communicate.

Your Role as a Presenter and Facilitator

Presenter: Relies on lecture to directly provide all necessary information in session.

Facilitator: Manages process of guiding learners through a training experience. Relies on activities.

Effective Presentation & Facilitation Skills

Practice, practice, practice. Address learning from various perspectives. Speak with a strong, clear, and varied voice. Move with meaning and emphasis. Observe and actively listen to your participants.

2. Identify challenges when leading each type of activity. Also identify resolutions. Write answers in the space provided.

Asking questions is an important skill that can improve facilitation. Use questioning with other facilitation activities.
