Our Cash Based Transfer solution Process

4. Provide the file of the CBT beneficiaries in a specific with the Mobile Money account number + amount to transfer

Cash Based Transfer

1. Load the file of the CBT beneficiaries in the Mobile Money platform

2. Execution of money transfers : 12,000/minute

3. The CBT beneficiaries could withdraw their money with our 11,000 points of sale spread in all the states of South Sudan

We plan to allow MTN Mobile Money subscribers to withdraw more than 2500 USD/Day but BSS will advise on the limit

How beneficiaries can receive full amount of money sent to them ?

MTN will:

1. create a specific Mobile Money account for the beneficiaries so that they receive the full amount of their money without paying any cash out fee

2. provide a USSD code to all Mobile Money Agent to check the MSISDNS of the beneficiaries before performing the cash out

3. provide a transactions books to record all the transactions and receipts to the beneficiaries to ensure that they will not pay any cash out fees

Daily sending limits ?

What we plan to submit to South Sudan Central Bank :

For Bulk Payment – 100,000 SSP/day ~ 31,622 USD

UN can send 31,622 USD per day

For Beneficiairies – 8,000 SSP/day ~ 2,529 USD

The beneficiaries could withdraw 2,529 USD per day

Bank of South Sudan rate : 1 USD = 3.1623 SSP


Ability to send money to other networks 1. MTN Network

The beneficiaries should be in one of the areas covered by the 354 sites

2. Mobile Money Agent

If the beneficiaries are in an area where there is no Mobile Money Agent, even if they receive the SMS notification that they have receive money; they will not be able to withdraw the money

Prerequisites to receive MTN Mobile Money transfer

As per MTN Group requirements, the MTN Mobile Money Platform can but should not perform bulk payments ( 12,000/min) to other networks

Why ?

1. AML/CFT Anti Money Laundry and Financing of Terrorism : send Money to a subscriber who have not been registered by MTN could be a risk for AML/CFT

2. Security : sending bulk payments to other network MSISDNs involve sending the Money Transfer Code Number (MTCN or Token) + the Secret code to the same MSISDNs. If a person get the phone of a beneficiary, this person will be able to withdraw the money

Current situation

1. Free MTN Sim cards to all the beneficiaries

2. Free Mobile Money account opening for all the beneficiaries

3. Bulk payments on all the beneficiaries MTN MSISDNS
